Introduction
This guide is for all Xbox 360 owners wishing to find out what is hidden under the mysterious hood, white coloured (or black versions "elite"). I hope you enjoy reading, hoping that this guide will help you better understand the capabilities of your console, and how to exploit them.
Disclaimer
All solutions are for the best for your console and will require its opening. In this case, you can lose the guarantee. Microsoft no longer accepts your consoles (so be careful if you open )
Reference will be made in this guide to backup copies of games. Only copies of your original games made by you are legal.
Glossary
Because some words here are not the vocabulary, a glossary can be fun
Firmware: The firmware is the firmware located in the chipset, which controls the DVD player.
Hypervisor: The hypervisor is a program officer, which verifies that everything that should be there is present and that no other programs loaded through the back door.
Kernel: Kernel is the heart of the operating system.
Timing Attack: The Timing Attack is to analyze the execution time of an encryption algorithm to decrypt. On Xbox 360, this method has been used to bypass any step in the boot sequence of checking the status of the internal memory of the console.
Tweak 360
At the moment, the hack allows 360 mainly playing backups. To do so, there are two methods offering a similar result, the chip or the flash player.
Fleas
They are mentioned here for informational purposes only, a method much more accessible and less risky having replaced.
The chip is welded to the drive, thus launching backups. Some of them allow a little more, but it will be seen a little later.
The flash drive
This method is to flash the firmware of the DVD player to accept its playing backups. This method is much less than the installation of chip, it is mostly used.
For its flash drive, the first thing to do is to identify the correct method to use.
If you are in the third case, it is difficult to differentiate a Lite-on or a Ben-Q without opening, though some tracks, knowing that the Lite-On are now in consoles manufactured after April 2008.
The kernels 4532/4548
The tweak took for 360 is for a short time, another way, after the discovery of a flaw of the hypervisor kernels 4532 and 4548.
This tweak allows many attractive things, such as changing the region of the console, the launch of Linux etc..
As you might expect, Microsoft quickly put an end to that with an update.
Fortunately, it is still possible to downgrade the Xbox 360, for the older consoles, Microsoft came up with a parade hardware Timing Attack.
Backup
Ban & Stealth
Before anything is explained how to make a backup, let me tell you about the ban. Currently, for 3 times, Microsoft has banned the players connected to Xbox Live (not necessarily playing there) with backups. The criteria for banning are not known, but some of these are linked to the presence of specific files on the DVD.
The backups have these files which are called "Stealth." There is software to check whether your backups are Stealth or not before burning.
I urge you not to burn the backups Stealth to warn you of a banning (all times be aware that even in this way, the ban is not impossible).
Please be aware that in case of ban, only the console will no longer have access to Xbox Live. Your Gamertag can connect without problems from another console. The same applies to your hard drive, you can use without worry.
Make a backup
Now that your console can play backups, we still need to know to make one.
To make a backup, there are many ways but we will use this specific method discussed below:
How to make a backup of your Xbox 360 games from your PC using wxRipper
Prerequisites
- A PC with DVD player
- A dvd video minimum 7.5gb
- Plain original xbox 360
- Wxripper available on the site here
Dismantling pc dvd player
Unplug the player from your pc (food + water) To unmount the drive it must be drawer is open. So use the emergency eject to open it. Then unscrew the 4 screws from the underside of the player: (in red on the photo) and the push button (blue arrow).
Remove the upper crankcase. Either you end up with:
Player type 1:
A plate that serves as support for the cd -> in this case, unscrew the plate which can be easily reposition it for the swap.
Drive Type 2:
Is the cover itself serves as a support -> you need so you carry a stabilizer like this:
You put on the cd during the swap.
Reconnect your player as it was your CPU, it is now ready.
Using wxripper
Insert the dvd video over 7.5gb with the ejection button (do not forget to put the stabilizer plate or as the case) then start wxripper. Then click stop drive. The dvd stops spinning. Remove your stabilizer, remove your dvd video (without using the Eject button) and place your game in the xbox 360:
Then put the stabilizer. Then click start in wxripper dump. The operation lasts about 20 to 30 minutes depending on your DVD player. You get a dump file *. iso that you can burn with any burning software. The resulting DVD can be launched on a xbox 360 as the hotswap method which is altogether another method.
