Transformers Fall of Cybertron Troubleshooting Guide

Transformer Fall of Cybertron an action packed third person shooter game gives you outstanding graphics and futuristic environment. The game deals with many new weapons and upgrades. This time Activision has made major changes making the game better for players. Additions of new enemies make the game more challenging this time. The controls are revamped with better responsiveness. Those who are playing the game on PS3 or Xbox 360 don’t require making changes or will face any error. But those are on PC can face errors. Ample of errors are mostly caused due to low system requirements, outdated drivers, bad sectors, missing files, security blocks, etc. This are the most common reason that you can verify on your own and fix up. First thing for quick start I can provide a bit simple guidelines to enjoy the game. You must check the system requirement before installing this game in your system. If it is lower than forcefully running the game provides laggy gameplay. There is nothing you can do in that. Transformer Fall of Cybertron needs a good gpu support. It is a game of new ages which can't work on the traditional integrated video memory.

Ample of system comes with regular gpu's to handle the graphic work. But that is not more than enough. The game is designed on Unreal Engine 3 and Havok (game physics). These things are well rendered by a graphic card which supports this technology. In regular card you cannot get that kind of effects. If you have a regular gpu (atleast 512mb), then you can still have better gameplay, but disabling a number of options under display section of game. Disable that entire thing which you do not need, and set the resolution to medium or minimum which ever works better. There is no need for advance settings here. You can gain a bit more fps on the same. It is recommended to have minimum Core 2 Duo processor. And atleast 2GB ram with 512 to 1GB graphic card. It is good if you are having more than 2GB ram. Your gpu must support DX10. The storage space minimum required must be around 9GB atleast. Have a look on the system requirement list below:

    • CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom X3 8750
    • RAM - 2 GB (Recommended 4GB)
    • Free Space - 9 GB Approx.
    • GPU - GeForce 8800 GT series or ATI Radeon HD 4850 (Minimum 512MB or higher recommended with Direct X 9 & 10 compatibility)

Now if you have a system lower as compared to above but a good 1GB gpu then you can give a try. You need active internet connection to activate the game online or else it will not load. You either go for a game disc or simply order the game online from Activision. Let’s begin with a short FAQ that will guide us on various issues. Later on we will start with a troubleshooting guide covering a number of aspects on the game failure. You can also add your question to this guide for getting better help from the players worldwide. This short FAQ is just for the DLC's and connectivity issues. I am not putting a much effort in writing quiet large amount of question as a number of bugs will arise only when you start playing. Remember that you need to activate the game. Unless and until it is not done you cannot access the game features.

How to get Optimus Prime DLC and Havoc Pack in Transformers Fall of Cybertron (For Gaming Consoles)

First you need to order the DLC. After receiving the DLC you can find both Single and Multiplayer support in the same. To run that you have to choose Campaign mode and then choose your chapter. Later on you can find G1 Optimus Prime in the Switch Character option. There is quiet little number of chapters where you can switch characters. You cannot use G1 Optimus Prime everywhere. The same is also accessible in Multiplayer mode. For that you have to first begin with creating a new character. Go the appropriate menu and then choose Create a Character > Destroyer Class > Armor > Armor Set > G1 Optimum Prime

Now about the Havok Pack you will get additional 5 new characters in the same. They are Ultra Magnus, Wheeljack , Blast Off , Zeta Prime and Perceptor. I had added a small screen below of small glimpse of all this characters. Havoc Pack just offer you new characters and it is available for all platforms. Somehow you will need to buy the full pack. You cannot go for any single one.

Common Transformers Fall of Cybertron Online Connectivity Problems :

This is after installation issue when you face a number of connectivity failures. You might land in no solutions and constant reboot can do nothing much here. Now this is common issues in console. If you are using Xbox 360 and trying to connect online ensure that you had a dedicated port kept open for the game to communication. By default this game uses 3074, 2869 and 5223 port which you can configure manually through your router. Your firewall or any other security application might block the connectivity, so disabling that for some time can help. If you have internal security software like Antivirus you can disable the router firewall. Now you have to do something like Port Forwarding. This is a simple process. You have to enter your router for that. You need a static IP for your console. Dynamic IP will not work here. If you are not sure about the settings better take help from someone. You need to place your gaming console inside the router by providing it a static IP address. Because if this is done on static IP then you do not need to setup everything again and again. This would be one time configuration. And if you are on a WAN network where you do not receive any modem or router, you need to contact your ISP for the settings. A small test can begin by disabling the firewall and all security features in your system. Disable your antivirus and other firewall. Then try to connect one again. The port which is mentioned above is necessary to open. They must not be blocked.

Trouble with Multiplayer mode in PC version of Transformers Fall of Cybertron :

PC Edition has certain issue with multiplayer connectivity. I am not talking about connection failure here. When you try to connect to an online server you will face an issue with the players that you are matched with. There can be a freezing screen or simply your points will not grow quiet instantly. These issues are related to server changes. Matchmaking is still under process and game developer is working on the same. There is nothing you can do from your end. If you enter the lobby and were not able to connect instantly or you are still not appeared on the screen, then try to reconnect again. Wait for a while. The server looks for a number of players to join and that give a high wait time.

Now let’s begin with number of various other bugs that mostly people face on PC edition. This are freeze screen, black screen, game crash, driver related issue, buggy graphics and many more. I tried to collect ample of information on the same.

How to deal with poor graphic quality ?

This is one of the most common issues that we face. Poor graphic quality consists of low fps, laggy screen, and outdated graphics. You do not get as what is expected. FPS gives you better gameplay. The higher fps the better game screen wills response. This is a key point in multiplayer. Now this game does not provide you any kind fps meter onscreen but still there are chances to gain a better output through many other ways. As I had said earlier that this game needs quiet good gpu to work on with new drivers. Remember the last time you had updated your drivers. Get fresh one and install them first. That is the only quick fix you can go for. Second to stop lagging screen disable Anti-Aliasing and Vysnc. This are mostly provided under the display settings if not then you have to check the settings under your GPU Control Center. Nvidia offer you a Control Panel while AMD offers you Catalyst or Vision Engine Control Center. Disable those settings from here. Anti-Aliasing tries to make your graphics smoother. It puts a bit pressure on the video memory and sometime due to bugs you will commonly face a slow responsive screen. This feature tries to smooth the edges, but due to low hardware support or outdate drivers, the gpu is not able to give ample of support. Sometime you can also notice a black screen before or after cinematic. Vysnc on the same hand tries to improve your game video by reducing the number of artifacts. This reduces the game fps indirectly. By default vysnc is turned off, but still I will recommend you to check one. It tries to align all the frames making the game performance more poor.

For higher end gpu's this is a much easier task as they had a good amount of memory and integrated circuit. Those artifacts are mostly not visible. Setting cpu affinity can also give boost to game performance. Here if you have a dual core processor the task performed in divided into two cpu's. You can set the priority to single cpu so that it can handle the maximum process and the second cpu does not interfere in the gameplay. This is quiet easy. Launch the game and minimize it. You can press Windows key or simply press Ctrl + Alt + Del. You can see Task Manager on your screen. Go to Processes and look for the game exe file. Right click on the same and choose Set Affinity. Choose only one cpu from there. There can be higher number of cpu for Quad Core processors. This will give the game a bit more stability to some extent. When you are playing the game try to disable your antivirus for some time. Many antivirus keep real-time watch on the .exe files initiated. They can block the access to file. You can either add the executable game under exception list of disable the antivirus only for some time. This will free up more system ram. Do not run any download when you are playing on multiplayer mode. The game needs constants internet connection and limited bandwidth can force the game to perform quiet slowly.

Bad Texture is another bigger issue for those players who are trying to play the game on laptops. We have ample of gaming laptop models available that offer you a better hardware support in comparison to desktop. But still you must need to make some changes. Bad Texture can be seen very easily. There would be less smoothness and artifacts will be visible. Now for that as I had mentioned above you have to disable two things. The first is Anti-Aliasing and second is Vysnc. Another thing that you need do is making your internal gpu as the dedicated video memory. Mostly the laptop bios decide that. When you run a game that needs more video memory it switches your laptop mode to the gpu. While on regular usage the integrated video memory is use. This automatic switching is not good for game which result in poor texture quality. This can be disabled from the bios. You can make the gpu as dedicated and only available video memory for your system. If you are not aware about the exact settings have a look on the laptop documentation. There you can find enough resources.

How to deal with installation failure ?

This issue Is not widely noticed but it still exists. When you launch the game it might crash and it can be due to improper or missing files. To re-install the same you need to follow a much cleaner way. Or else the issue will remain constant. This problem can appear after sometime of game installation. As there can be changes done by the antivirus, virus infection or any third party application. You can fix that by re-installing the game. But remember to backup your save game folder. It likes mostly under Document & Settings or under Program File in game folder. First to remove it follows the Control Panel path. Click on Uninstall a game and then remove it. Second go in your Windows directory > Program File and manually delete each folder associated with the game. You also need to remove the profile folder which is under Application data. Once the cleanup is done run a good registry cleaner software. There are many free versions available on web. Registry clearer will wipe out invalid or incomplete entries. Then again start a fresh installation.

Transformers Fall of Cybertron Hardware Troubleshooting ?

This part consists of dealing with bugs related to control, space, sound and bit of crashing. If you are felling that your mouse is not well responsive then tries to disable all your mouse services or associated software. Gaming mouse like Razer or regular mouse provided by Logitech comes with a utility that allow you to configure it. Turn off those services. You can locate them in the system tray. Try to update new drivers or change the connection if possible. If you are using a gaming mouse then you can simply make changes in the configuration tool. For audio issue you have to ensure that your system has a DirectX compatible Sound card. This is required or you can face a weak sound. The only way to deal with audio issue is drivers. Check that there is not more than one audio controller in your system. Use the default one for better output. Check the internal settings also for audio stuff. For gaming controllers you need to find a patch. These patches are only provided by the official game developers. There are number of similar games that come with patch. You can use them to make your controller work in better way.

Before installation you must check that the default location that you are providing for installation must not contain bad sectors. This can be the most common issue of crash. Also do not install this game in an encrypted or compressed drive. This is will put major effect on the game play. Try to use a separate partition for better performance. I had tested this game on Windows XP system which has an 80GB RAM and 4GB memory with 1GB dedicated gpu. The default location which is Windows directly had tons of data that I had compressed. I installed the game in it and the launch was very slow. Later on I changed the location and it worked well.

Dealing with Transformers Fall of Cybertron common errors

If you are facing constant installation failure then try to run Windows update. You need .net framework, direct x update, etc in your system. When the installation crashes still mention the error below in this article. Direct x failure is the most common one. The reason is that there is other more application which uses it. You have to disable each of them. There can simple mouse utilizing or web camera software. Turn off all the services. Run Windows update or you can download install the same manually also. If the game crashes when you launch it then it looks to be a completely Direct X issue. Somehow the issue can be also related to display driver failure. If the game freezes on Cinematic then the common issue lies with the game files, the storage space, gpu drivers and Steam game cache. Check each of them one by one and try to troubleshoot the problem.
