The Darkness II is the sequel to the first-person action game released in 2007, The Darkness . The story is based on the adventures of Jackie Estacado and the Darkness . Fix for crashing to desktop and game does not run

If you are not able to run The Darkness II game in your computer or while running The Darkness II it is crashing then follow this steps.
FIX 1 - You have to open steam and right click on The Darkness II game. Select properties. Go to local files tab. Verify Integrity of Game Cache. (For steam user)
FIX 2 - (This is for Windows 7 Vista only) Close Steam client and open registry editor. Now you have to locate following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VALVE

Right click on it and select permissions and after that you have to check Admin & System for Read and Full Control allow boxes.
FIX 3 - Right click on The Darkness II game icon select properties and then select compatibility tab. Now after that you have to select Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode and run the game
FIX 4 - uninstall PhysX Drivers from add and remove programs and then you have to start the game and it will install compatible version of PhysX Drivers.

Fix for lagging and textures missing

While playing The Darkness II game if you are facing problem of textures or game is lagging then you have to do following things.

Nvidia user

Go to Nvidia Control Panel control panel.
Disable Anti-Aliasing
Choose “Let the application decide” for global settings.
ATI user
Go to Catalyst control center
Select Let Application decide option for Anti-aliasing

FIX 1 - Type %temp% in start menu search box (Windows vista and windows 7) or open start menu and click on run and then type %temp% (windows XP) press enter. Now delete all the temp files.
FIX 2 - Make sure all the background applications are closed. Many times due to background applications this type of problem can takes place.
FIX 3 - Disable multi-core processor if it is enabled it may solve this problem.
FIX 4 - Disable antivirus software

Fix for black screen (No video) issue

If there is not video or black screen while playing The Darkness II game then you have to lower the resolution and change the refresh rate of monitor. You have to open Nvidia control panel or Catalyst control center and then reset the setting.

Fix for yellow screen issue

You have to try this solution if you get yellow screen after intro of the game

Go to Nvidia Control Panel control panel.

ATI user

Go to Catalyst control center

Fix for low frame rate and stuttering issue

To solve low frame rate and stuttering issue with this game you have to open The Darkness II game and then you have to Go to the graphic setting and set all the graphic option to lower. If this idea does not help you then you have to also make sure that graphic drivers in your computer is updated.

Fix for Crashes During or after the loading screen

FIX 1 - Disable antivirus software
FIX 2 - You have to open steam and right click on The Darkness II game. Select properties. Go to local files tab. Verify Integrity of Game Cache. (For steam user)
FIX 3 - Manually add The Darkness II game in the exception list of firewall or antivirus software

Fix for System Reboot upon Launch

Download and install latest drivers for the hardware like graphic card and motherboard. You have to also try to update BIOS in your computer (Try on your own risk)

Fix for Sound Stuttering, Sound Error, Low Sound and no sound.

FIX 1 - open start menu then you have to type dxdiag search box (windows 7 or vista) or type dxdiag after clicking on run (windows XP) and press enter. Now after that you have to Reduce Sound Acceleration from sound tab.
FIX 2 - in your computer if you have reatak sound drivers then you should update the he drivers and then your problem will fix.
FIX 3 - Go to control panel and then select sound. After selecting the sound you have to click on playback tab and then choose configure. Now you have to select stereo option

FIX for Crashing on Intel HD Graphics
FIX 1 – remove Intel HD Graphics driver from your computer and then you have to install it again.
FIX 2 – Download latest Intel HD Graphics driver from internet and then update in your system

I really find this helpful. When installed the darkness 2 in my computer at that time game was crashing randomly and then I have uninstalled PhysX Drivers and then reinstalled it. Now after trying this solution my problem get solved. Thank you so much.
