How to use Titanium Backup to Backup and Restore Android Phones

Android has gain a good popularity in smartphone field. As the open source mobile os released has given a wide market to many manufacturers to give the best produce with maximum app support. Android phones are functional and portable. They offers you to use many apps for free with rich features. That is the reason why many has been migrated to Android. Today Android phones are one of the most widely sold products. So you might be wondering to switch and use it for day to day business. There is one more thing which you will realize soon that what to do if something happen in manipulation. Manipulation in the sense is something offered by Android to completely re-modify the entire operating system based on apps available. It is true none of us will sit quietly and just enjoy the default features. You will love to root your phone and get extra space. You might also try to tweak the phone for gaining performance or just keep on adding new games and apps. But there are some consequences of this practice which can directly or indirectly hurt you. That is your data backup. There are many apps for Android that allows you to backup your phone data. But Titanium backup is something different. It allows you to back full phone with apps and games in it so that in case of any issue you can simply restore with few clicks. The app works from the phone itself.

Titanium Backup is very simple to use. There is nothing to read much on this. You need to gain a bit experience for using this. The application comes with easy to use interface. It works nicely without eating up your phones performance. Below I had listed some of the top features of this software. In my views this must to have app for every Android phone.

    Features of Titanium Backup :
    • Once installed in your phone it scans the phone and read all the install applications. It then offers you to choose which app you want to backup and which you don’t. So here you have choice to backup only needed apps which can be instantly restored by clicking on restore button. If you want to backup everything you can choose all apps and backup.
    • Another thing it provides is taking the backup of application data. That means any settings or configuration made to the application is also in the backup. This also can be configured manually.
    • One of the best features of this app is restoring your Android Market information. For example, if you had purchased an app from Android market. The android market shows purchased. When you restore the same app those entire are re-written. This is important to get updates for the Android apps.
    • There is a free as well as paid version of this app available. So at first you can use the free one to test it. Anyhow I will recommend you to go for paid only. But with free you can enjoy much function in it. The paid version offers you more performance and restore options.

By default there are some backup support provided in Android phones. You can use that also. But if you want additional features and support then you can go for Titanium backup. Much newer version of Android gives you more better features. Comparison to that basic stuff Titanium Backup is more better. It gives a smart support to your phone to get all the data saved with your settings also. Below is a short guide which you will show you the process of using Titanium backup on your phone. The requirement to use this phone is that your Android phone must be rooter. Second you need to download and add this app in your phone. Rooted android phone allows the tool to access phone system data which might not give better result in unrooted phones. The simple reason is for using a rooted phone is, that you get admin access to your phones operating system. Rooting allows you to completely manipulate whatever you want. So for an effective backup you need to do this. Or else you can run that on your regular phone also, but do not really expect better results.

If your phone is not rooted then you have to take care that this app might not be able to access the system files of your phone. Due to some restriction is not collect data of apps which are not allowed. So this sometime affects the phone data backup. For rooting stuff I will recommend you to Read this guide - Android Phone Rooting Tools and Steps . Just go through the guide for getting info and help on rooting your android phone. You can also collect the tools for this process from web. It is very important to take care that you are not overwriting your phones rom with any other model. There should be model specific files only or else do not do it. It can kill your phone and also affect its warranty.

How to Install Titanium Backup on your Android Phone

Installing application is not a tough job. I had many time did this just by connecting by phone to my pc usb and clicking on install under a app in Android Market. The operating system uses the pc support and install app automatically. App installation in Android is much better than other. Android apps are superior and rich. After rooting the phone you become a kind of superuser. Just go on Android Market and on the top right search box just type Titanium backup. Click on the blue install button on the left side. The application will be installed automatically to your phone. I hope your internet connection is fine and there will be no issue with the installation. I am sure that you are not going to face any major issue. At start I will recommend you to go through the app interface and menu. It is a powerful app. Do not just run backup. You need to understand and learn what thing you want to backup.

Anyone who plans to be frequently Desire reason to fill up on new, I recommend buying this app. I can not get a commission or similar, but it's a real relief when a restore is not to press a button for each app. The batch-processing functions in the Donate version as usual. The only difference is the fact that one no longer needs to intervene. Everything runs unattended. Also can be set, how many versions of an app are saved. In the free version is only possible to backup and backup again rejects the predecessor. In the version you can Donate to earlier versions (including the associated data) to fall back. Finally, there is still the possibility to create schedules.

    How to Backup Android phone

Once it is installed correctly you have to first checkout the menu and the options it is provided. Second you must ensure that what you want to backup. There is tab in the application as Backup/Restore. Now from the Menu look for Batch. Batch offers you to choose a higher number of apps to backup. It is best recommended to backup a large number of apps at a time. You can choose apps along with data you want. Choose the backup settings and run it. "Titanium Backup" comes with some handy features, and moves such as programs from the SD card on your Android Phone and vice versa. Using a batch controller can perform backups automatically at specified time points.

Titanium Backup" is undoubtedly a must-app for all experimental Android users who value their data. Another thing I want to tell you that before using the steps you can keep your phone backup with any other source. This is necessary because in this market if not installed or encounter a problem, then you can easily return to the previous version using the backup. Here are some quick steps for Install and backup:
    • The first step is to download the Android Market 3.1.3 apk from here and save it to your PC.
    • Once done, connect your phone to your computer, mount the SD card or SD and copy the APK Ext downloaded to the SD card root.
    • After finishing with a copy of the application to the root of SD card, download Astro File Manager or a file manager of your choice in the market.
    • Now start the application manager and install the APK files from your SD card following the instructions on screen.
    • After installation, launch the market and wait, if all went well, really like starting the new Market 3.1.3.

How to perform full backup with Titanium Backup?
There are 2 versions in the Android Market, a free version and donate. The difference between the two is minimal, but the app fee you can do automatic restore. I do not know if there are other differences, I have always used the donate version so I can not be precise on this point, however, even the free version is fine. For backup, you can not say much, and also "really" do anything wrong here.
    • Once installed open the app and allow root permissions.
    • You will be facing the screen Summary, the first of the three main buttons, and a brief summary of useful information.
    • On the top you can see 2 other buttons in addition to the list.
    • The second brings us to the Backup / Restore.
    • The third button is used to display the Schedules, a menu that lets you schedule backups (and the various types) to be run automatically.

How to Restore backup with Titanium Backup?

The backup is quite simple. More exciting is recovering. Because when you look at look at what safeguards Titanium Backup everything, you quickly lose the overview. The only reasonably usable info is that all the system apps that might be interesting for the user in the system are shown in green and apps that are not really relevant to the user are shown in red.

    Remember:
    • Green highlighted = important apps
    • Red marked Apps = Not Important

These system apps contain all important data to your Desire quickly after a wipe restore them to their original state. To start this re-production, it goes as follows:
    • Run Titanium Backup
    • Press the Menu button
    • Press the Batch Button
    • Now Press Restore all apps + data
    • Choose data only. This step has to with out to be best practice, as occurred after a wipe and possibly the installation of a ROM with occasional problems when I restore it and the app. If I however recovered only the data, had major problems were always off.
    • You can Press Deselect All. This is for pre-selection of apps and you can delete the apps you want-or. Their own data-select.
    • Then selects the data from the List, and click the port to "start batch". Now starts the Titanium Backup restore process.
    • After the restore is complete you through a reboot. (Part of the back of you backed up data are available only after the reboot again).

It may happen that after the second reboot, some widgets display an error message (Error loading widgets). In this case, it removes the widget from the home screen and then adds it directly to back. Unfortunately, this error occurs from time to time, and no matter in what order the recovery is the error still occurs.

Some points to remember while using Titanium Backup?
    • Whenever you face any error while using the app on your rooted phone click on Problem button.
    • It is always recommended to verify the backup you did. It is just to ensure that your backup is done properly.
    • Try to enable System data migration before restoring your data. To some extent it is better if you do not reboot your phone after taking the backup.
    • Use the Filter option in Titanium backup. You can create a label for the Apps which you want to backup only.
    • Remember that Titanium Backup application only once. Taking continuous backup of same thing will not really affect your phone or consume space.
    • Market Doctor can help you to verify the backup links after running a restore operation.

    Titanium Backup FAQ

This is a short FAQ I made on this tool which I think might be more helpful in case you need more detail information on the software. The FAQ offers you the most common information needed on the tool.

Does it works on Old version on Android Phone?
For start it is not recommended to use Titanium on really old version of Android. The more new it is the much better it will be. Some settings might cause error. So if you are rooting try to find the most new rom you can.

What are the Requirements of Titanium Backup?
First it is recommended to root your phone before using it. Because rooting of this phone offers you super-user rights. Under this the app can work freely without any restriction. Try to use the tool for Android 1.5 to 2.2 versions.
