    How to install applications?

Open the main menu -> Apps. Manager -> Downloads -> then choose an application to install.
Another even simpler method is to directly visit the site of maemo.org with your mobile device. A catalog of software will be available online and you can click the installation link direct.

    Enter the Matrix with Maemo

Caution: This hidden option is no longer available since version 1.1 of RA 2010.

Features reserved for people who know what they are, are hidden in Maemo. Here's an example by adding a web address for filing that "Matrix". Attention should then tap in the fuzzy set after "The Matrix" and not memorize:

The system will then ask you if you want to swallow the blue pill or red, like in the movie Matrix. The first choice has no effect, while the second (called "Red Pill Mode") will unlock new features. This mode turns off automatically after each restart of the device:

    Some useful applications

Here's a list of the most useful applications for Maemo. You can install them without any problems after adding the deposits described above.

Load Applet: a small program that allows you to add quick access to the webcam and the camera. It also displays the CPU load and memory consumption next to the clock.

Flashlight: lets you use the flash from the camera as a flashlight. This feature can also be used to make videos at night. To use it, open the cover, then click the notification area and there will be a button Flashligh.

Brightness Applet simple: to quickly adjust brightness, to save up the battery.

Mirror: As the name implies, turns your phone into a true mirror, thanks to the webcams on the front.

Personnal IP Address: a widget that displays the IP address on the desktop.

Personnal Dataplan Monitor: a widget that displays your bandwidth usage. Useful for false 3G unlimited plans.

    How to backup?

It is quite possible to make a backup of your phone. Be careful though, it will only contain your user preferences. The complete system will not be taken into account. Here's how to make a backup:
Open the Main Menu -> Other -> Backup -> and follow the instructions
To recover the backup, connect your phone via USB, it will be contained in the backup folder. If you want to retrieve a list of all packages you have installed, open your backup file and unzip application.zip. You'll find a file named packages.backup.
