I have seen many people are getting then error like “Not enough space to download and install this item. Free up more space and click the "Download" button” while trying to download the game from the Microsoft. After working for this error for long time I have finally come up with some solution which might help you to resolve the error and work with the issue. This solution will also work for people who are getting the error “ERROR 80131620” or you are getting the error “Not enough room on drive C:\ to complete the download.”

So if you can then go through the same and work with the issue.
There are two solution for resolving the issue which you can go through and work with the same.

Solution 1:

The first resolution is that you have to delete the folder where you have downloaded the game. This will not at all affect the game which you have installed into the system of yours. All you have to do is to download the game again from the Download Section of the Games For Windows. To delete the game folder you have to go with the below given step that might help you with the same.

1. First Start the Games For Windows Live Client
2. Now Sign into the Live account
3. Click on Setting
4. Now go to “Downloads Directory”
5. Select the Folder Path i.e. ‘C:\My Games’
6. On the Explorer Windows Right Click on Folder
7. Select “Delete”
8. You are Done

If you are not willing to delete the folder and wanted to move the folder to some other location without deleting the existing one then you can also do that with the below given instruction. Just go with the same and work with the Moving of the folder to some other location or drive.

1. Again Launch the Games for Windows
2. Sign into the Live Account
3. Select Setting
4. Click on ‘'Change' button for Downloads Directory
5. Choose the deferent location for Games Folder
6. Create a New Folder for Games

Now after you finish with the creation of the folder now instead of deleting the games from the older location it is better to just copy and paste it to the new location.

Solution 2:

If you are getting the below given error while trying to download the Premium Downloadable Content from the Games for Windows then I am having the solution for same.

Below are the error listed below:

1. Error “Not enough space to download and install this item. Free up more space and click the "Download" button.
2. Error Code : 80131620
3. Error “Not enough room on drive C:\ to complete the download.”

If you getting one of the above error from the download of the PDLC then let tell you that this is caused just because of the your hard drive is not having the enough space for the PDLC. If this is the case then first thing that I will advise you is to free some of the space from the default drive where you can get this working on same. IF you are unable to free some of the space from the default drive then you have to change the default location of the download of the PDLC to the new location by modifying the Windows Registry.

If you are ready to modify the Windows Registry then you have to go with the below given step that will help you to work with the same issue.

1. Exist from All the Games for Windows
2. Click on Start
3. Click on Run
4. Type regedit and press Enter
5. Navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Software\Microsoft\XLive”
6. Go to Right Pane
7. Find DLCBasePath
8. Right Click on DLCBasePath
9. Select Modify from the context menu
10. In the Value Data Box enter the location for download of PDLC
11. Click on OK
12. Exit from Registry Editor

If you are willing to move the content to the new PDLC installation location the go with the below given steps:

1. First Open the Older File location for PDLC
2. Click on Start
3. Click on Run
4. Type “%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\xlive\DLC”
5. Click on OK
6. Now Select All File
7. And Right Click and select Copy
8. Now go to the new Folder
9. Right Click on same
10. Select Paste
11. Now go to old Location for storage
12. Right Click on All Selected folder
13. Select Delete
14. Restart Computer

Note: If you are modifying the Registry then you have to take proper step otherwise you might cause another problem to the system. So if you can then take care of it and work with the issue.
