How to optimize SSD for WINDOWS 7?

    INTRODUCTION:-

From startup computer programs that make it work are read and rewritten on the hard disk again and again, and this in itself carries a risk, because to fail any read / write operation due to software errors or users, move the machine while the hard drive is active, a bad shutdown or a power failure, to name just a few examples, it can cause damage to the system that may require reformatting the hard disk. The risk increases when you install or uninstall applications, and reaches its maximum when entering the Internet as there are always "witches" that we provide the latest model of virus.

Windows uses by default only the C drive for the operating system and all personal files and folders from users, all in one unit. If the hard disk needs to be formatted folders and personal files will be obligatorily deleted.

From the earliest days of computing there are many applications designed to image the disk to retrieve all lost, apart from the implemented system utilities for Microsoft Windows itself. The disk image can rebuild what was lost and leave as it was the same disk, and must regularly update as often as possible, because any unsaved changes will be irretrievably lost.

No disk image can be used to create an alternative C drive on the same computer. If we want to have him follow a different procedure, and this is the purpose of this tutorial. We assume that Windows leaves the possibility of creating up to three primary partitions that can act as a hard C, and devote the remaining space to logical drives completely independent of the operating system and are a much better place for user files such as movies, music photos, letters etc, which then appear in File Manager with the following letters (D, E, F, G ...) and divide it using the disk as follows:

    1. Primary Partition 1 with an insignificant size of only 100 MB for the boot manager, hidden and always acting as active unit, handles for either of the other two and allows the user to choose to boot either as disk C .
    2. Primary Partition 2, size 25 GB, is used to install Windows 7 it is the C drive by default.
    3. Primary Partition 3, size 25 GB, a copy of the earlier obtained in a quick and easy, is the C drive alternative.
    4. Logical Drives: as many as you like with the size you want, to fill the hard disk.

The main advantages of having doubled the operating system are many, most notably including:
    • The C drive can be formatted and rebuilt at any time without affecting either the master boot record (MBR) or boot sector of the partition (PBR), or of course the user files.
    • The primary partition does not appear as drive C (in the File Manager is a letter following the logical units dedicated to personal files and folders), properly treated in the manner described, allows to create backup copies either by direct copy or a compressed file. The course deals direct copy more than 4GB, but the compressed file fits on a single DVD.
    • You can rebuild the damaged unit while working with him just a quick format on it and return a copy (it takes about 10 minutes in the background.)
    • The division of the hard disk into multiple parts means less fragmentation, more stability and more speed work.

Re: How to optimize SSD for WINDOWS 7?

    PRELIMINARY PRECAUTIONS:-

    1. If your computer is new please read very carefully the conditions of the guarantee and not get out of them, as improper changes lead to their loss.
    2. If Windows 7 is pre-installed should be stored in an external medium (CD, flash drive or external hard drive) drivers for all devices integrated in the motherboard. At Hewlett Packard or Compaq computers are in a folder called "swsetup." In other brands often find them in a folder called "cabs."
    3. We also recommend that when Windows 7 is pre-installed keep an operating system image and a copy of all folders and personal files before erasing the hard drive and create a system recovery CD, as it offers us Windows 7 for both.
    4. For best results in cloning is necessary to use a file manager that allows view and copy all hidden and system files. Instead of manipulating the default File Manager in Windows 7 that remains invisible, it is preferable to install when needed "Total Commander" or "FreeCommander"easy to find on the Internet, set them up properly for it (in "Total Commander ": Settings> Options> Display> Show hidden files / system, in "freeCommander Extras> Settings> View> Show hidden files).

    OPTIMIZE YOUR HARD DRIVE:-

    DISTRIBUTE THE SPACES:-

    USING FDISK.EXE

    • Booting from a DOS floppy disk or a CD created from it (Nero and similar programs have options for it), choosing to start the program of choice for large disk, delete all partitions on the hard drive first, and then create two primary units and a 25 GB extended partition for the rest of the disk, then deleting the first of the primaries, as will be used for the Windows installation disc 7 believes the Hide to System Administration installed for the first time and only does when installed on an unallocated space.
    • Do not format anything.
    • Fdisk.exe is especially useful when we remove units "dynamic" created by Windows 7.

    USING OTHER PROGRAMS:-

    • For example you can use "Partition Wizard" for Windows 7, whose image (to create from it a bootable CD using Nero or similar software) can be downloaded from internet.
    • Boot the computer using this disc and you are not completely empty erase everything you have.
    • Create two primary partitions of 25 GB to the top of the disc and fill the rest of the hard disk with one logical drive for personal files and folders, all formatting as NTFS.
    • After filling the hard drive, delete the first of the two primary partitions leaving free the space it occupied, for the reason indicated in the preceding paragraph.

    CREATION OF LOGIC UNITS:-

    • In principle we have created only an extended drive (with Fdisk.exe) or logical drive (with the alternative program). In order not to complicate our lives was divided into logical drives for folders and personal files after you install Windows 7 using the facilities for giving us this (Start> Computer> Manage (right)> Disk Management)
    .
    PRIMARY PARTITION 1 AND 2:-

    • Insert the installation disc and restart Windows 7.
    • Install Windows 7 on the unallocated space.
    • At the end of the installation operation the first 25 GB of disk have been occupied by the hidden partition 100 MB (essential for the dual boot and that should never be touched) and the operating system Windows 7, which function as partitions Primary 1 and 2 respectively.

    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY 3

    • Insert the installation disc and restart Windows 7.
    • Install Windows 7 on the second of the two primary partitions initially created, which now becomes the primary partition 3 as a result of the emergence of the hidden partition of 100 MB. It is not necessary at this time to load any drivers or installed any other program.
    • The system displays a dual-boot screen at startup to choose between the first and the second installation, putting forward the last. You can save this dual boot by installing the freeware EasyBCD (in English).
    • In addition to using it to backup this program allows to name the units, and change the order of loading and waiting time. Using these options will Win1 to the partition 2 and win2 to partition 3, which by default will always Win1 load and reduce the timeout to 5 seconds.
    • To know in the future what we are using as a disk partition C will get the same names on both drives using the file manager.
    • With this we have completed a basic configuration optimized hard disk: we have the three primary units at the beginning of the disc, being equal to two dedicated operating system, and the entire remaining space has been separated from the system, one or more logical drives totally dedicated to personal files and folders.

Completing The Installation Of Windows 7 In In Win1 And Then Copy Win2:-

Completing The Installation Of Windows 7 In In Win1 And Preparation For Your Copy:-

    • Reboot and select Win1 in the boot screen.
    • Complete full installation Win1, for which the first is to recover the data unit a copy of "swsetup" or "cabs" in an environment previously reserved external drivers or motherboard manufacturer. Then go to Start> Computer , click with right mouse button and look Properties> Hardware> Device Manager. Open all displayed with a question by clicking the right mouse button on each of them and using the option "Update Driver" to seek their drivers in the folder above. And even without question should also look in the same folder as the drivers of the Display adapters and network adapters because there are often new adapters for both.
    • When finished demos, create a text file, which we call "Desmontar.reg", with the following contents:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ MountedDevices]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ MountedDevices]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control]
    "SystemBootDevice" = ""
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ ControlSet001 \ Control]
    "SystemBootDevice" = ""
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ ControlSet002 \ Control]
    "SystemBootDevice" = ""

    • Double click on "Desmontar.reg". When the system will confirm that its contents have been integrated into the system registry we removed all units and therefore we Win1 ready to use its content also win2.

Win2 Use to Create A Copy Of Recovery To Serve For The Two Units:-

    • Restart and boot from win2.
    • From the command screen run the following command, replacing the letter X in the letter that appears in the File Manager Win1 (usually found behind all logical drives):

    Takeown / FX: \ *.* / A / R

    • We will appear listing all Win1 programs, making the administrator the owner of the same, allowing copying.
    • Create a folder on any of the logical drives (D, E..) Can be called "Recovery" and copy into it Win1 folders using "Total Commander" or "FreeCommander", including the hidden "ProgramData" and exclusion "Recycle.bin" and "System Volume Information." Nor should copy hidden files "hiberfil.sys" and "pagefile.sys".
    • At this point it is advisable to remove the hidden attribute to folder "ProgramData", as this will allow us to then use the File Manager of Windows 7 for further copies and create a compressed copy directly from the primary unit to keep it within a single DVD.

Win2 Substitute For The Copy Of Win1:-

    • Restart and boot from Win1.
    • Format the disk drive win2, put into it and finished it saved
    • In future can be used either as a hard win2 Win1 or C to reconstruct the other. The restore operation is as simple as a quick format the disk is not working properly and replace it within the saved files, either by copying them from the folder "Recovery" or decompressing the compressed file from the DVD directly. Either things can be done even in the background while working on the computer.

Re: How to optimize SSD for WINDOWS 7?

    OBSERVATIONS:-

    • Units removed from the registry and devices using "Desmontar.reg" nevertheless remain mounted and are operating normally until the computer shuts down and restart automatically updated with new data, so the user does not notice anything in any time unless an improvement in the functioning of the machine if there was any error in the record before dismantling.
    • To save the copy is not recommended for use in the present case no program to create the disk image in the market, since when have removed all the original drive does not appear anywhere in the registration and resettlement could be problematic or even impossible. That is why what is stated to be saved by simple copy, either normal or compressed format.
    • Never remove backup directly from the C drive.
    • The copy obtained for recovery can be used for any of the two primary partitions only if previously cleared devices using "Desmontar.reg" immediately before turning off the computer. Remember that remain on the register cleared until used again the same partition. Therefore, pending the recovery remove the copy must always start another primary partition, since otherwise the copy obtained would only be valid for the drive that was removed.
    • Although we keep everything in separate external copies to be updated in part what we're changing all the precautions are few and therefore it is highly recommended from time to time the option that Microsoft offers to create a system image on an external hard drive, including absolutely everything on the disk drive. To restore simply connect the external hard drive, boot the installation disc (not worth the repair disk), and when you leave the options screen, choose "Reset the computer" and then "Restore your computer with an image of the system you created earlier. "

    NOTES:-

This tutorial transcribed repeated personal experiences, and has been specifically drafted as a continuation of my collaboration with this forum, for which I am an old friend, in the desire to offer it to other members and visitors as soon as I did with Windows 98 and Windows XP, always the purpose of having doubled the operating system on the same hard disk from a single original installation, and that in the case of Windows 7 has a special interest given the various difficulties of creating a dual boot with other operating systems in the new machines.
