How to use nLiting XP for benching

This tutorial aims to explain how to recreate an installation CD of Windows XP using free software: nLite. nLite is a program that can recreate a Windows installation CD to include drivers, updates etc., etc. preset configurations. It is therefore possible to create an installation CD of Windows by including some automatic updates of your choice, drivers etc

This tutorial is aimed at:To those who have lost their installation CD of Windows XP
    • To those who have never had the cd installer (pc case high marks)
    • To those who wish to change their installation CD in order to incorporate the update of the system (slipstreaming)

    Prerequisites

    You will initially Require:
    1. A CD-R
    2. An installation CD for Windows XP (for those possessing one)
    3. A writer :-)

Firstly, we must prepare the files and elements that we wish to include in the CD nLite.
    • Create a folder on your desktop newcdxp.
    • In this new folder, create a folder and shift

Re: How to use nLiting XP for benching

The case of those not have a installation cd:

It is highly possible if you bought your PC in a supermarket you've ever had Windows CD,
However, in your computer, there is a folder named "i386." It contains all the files needed to create a Windows CD. This directory is usually located in the C: \ Windows (you can search by files to find the I386 folder: Start Menu / Find / Files or Folders).

Simply copy the i386 folder in the folder newcdxp?

Note: This folder may also be called AMD64. In the worst case .. borrow a CD to a friend you will use your activation code.

For those with a CD of Windows XP

Simply insert the CD into your drive and copy the i386 folder that is on the CD in our case newcdxp.

    Then:
    • Download Setup Service Pack 2 from the link Download details: Windows XP Service Pack 2 for IT Professionals and Developers , Microsoft, and copy the file installation folder newcdxp located on your desktop.
    • Also download all the update you want to automatically apply to your installation. You can download a catalog update as explained on this page: catalog updates , place the updated file folder Maj newcdxp.

    Turning to the serious stuff:
    • Download, initially, the Microsoft. NET framework 2.0, useful for the operation of nLite.
    • Download nLite.
    • Select the version 1.4.1 final.
    • Once downloaded, double-click on the icon located on your desktop.
    • Select language and click OK and Next.

    • Accept the license agreement and made Next .
    • Leave the default folder selected and click Next.

    • Leave the defaults and click Next. The installation will be started.
    • Click Finish once the installation is complete.
    • Launch nLite has this via the icon on the desktop or via Start -> All Programs -> nLite -> nLite.
    • nLite starts ... Welcome menu opens.

    • Change the language of the software and then click Next
    • You here at this window, it is to retrieve the installation files for Windows XP (the famous i386 folder)
    • Click on Browse and find the folder newcdxp.
    • The path appears, click the Next button to proceed to the next step.
    • This window allows the import of a last parameter use nLite, useless in our case Click the Next button.

Re: How to use nLiting XP for benching

This window allows the import of a last parameter use nLite, useless in our case. Click the Next button now we will be move to the main window nLite. After this Click once on each button to change the color of the red dot green dot ... in order to perform each step.
Click the Next button to proceed to the next step. We here at the window of integration of the service pack. Click the Select button and specify the location of service pack 2 downloaded at the beginning. Click the Next button

Now it is about integrating update to Windows so they are installed automatically during installation of Windows.
    • Select the Administrator account, proceed to the desired change
    • Enter the password (remember you!)
    • Make sure that the Enabled option is checked.

Now, on the restricted account follow the below mentioned procedures.
    • Add
    • Make sure that the Enabled option is checked.
    • Len Enter user name, full name and description
    • Scroll down the Local Group and set to User
    • Enter a password for the user
    • Finally, you can also set the session to be open when you start Windows from the drop-down menu at the top right Automatic connection.

Then you arrive at options to change the configuration of Windows.
    • The General tab is divided into several sections:
    • Miscellaneous: Leave the options checked by default if you just want Vour use the CD on this computer.
    • Features: Allows you to change the destination folder systems (Profile, etc. Windows folder.)
    • CAB file drivers: Allows management of compression drivers
    • Languages: Allows deletion of language parameter
    • Look of the installation: Sets the style of the installer
    • Minimum requirements: Lets go further restricting the installation of Windows.
    • Click the Insert button

And one by one select the patches you've downloaded Once this step is complete, click Next. This window is designed to integrate the hardware drivers. We will do nothing because it is better to manually install the driver to own always had the latest version. Finally click next. In this window, it will remove Windows components that you deem unnecessary again click next.

In the General tab, you can give your key to activate Windows, so you do not have a grasp during installation (I would not suggest, however) You can also set the Windows System Restore.

    • Run a tab once: Allows the execution of a specific order at the opening of a session
    • Tab ID owner and network: Allows network settings
    • Network Settings tab: Allows you to keep your current network parameters, or to seize.
    • Desktop tab: Allows changing the default theme
    • Automatic Updates tab: Allows adjustment of the Windows update (automatic installation or not ... ect)
    • Display tab: Setting display options
    • Components tab: Enable or not certain components (not essential ..)
    • Regional Tab: Allows selection of regional and language options.
    • Click on the Users tab
    • We'll set your future user accounts at once, not having to enter them during installation.

We will create two accounts (see for others) One with Administrator rights. Another with the law restricted. To reduce the impact of malware on your system. You use the Administrator account only for administrative tasks. Select the Administrator account, proceed to the desired change
Enter the password. Make sure that the Enabled option is checked. Now, on the restricted account ...

    • Add
    • Make sure that the Enabled option is checked.
    • Len Enter user name, full name and description
    • Scroll down the Local Group and set to User
    • Enter a password for the user

Finally, you can also set the session to be open when you start Windows from the drop-down menu at the top right Automatic connection. Then you arrive at options to change the configuration of Windows. The General tab is divided into several sections:

    • Miscellaneous: Leave the options checked by default if you just want Vour use the CD on this computer.

    • CAB file drivers: Allows management of compression drivers
    • Languages: Allows deletion of language parameter
    • Look of the installation: Sets the style of the installer
    • Minimum requirements: Lets go further restricting the installation of Windows.

Patches tab allows you to modify certain system settings like the number of simultaneous connections. Activation of themes or disable Windows File Protection (not recommended). This section is intended for advanced users. Once the modications made, click the button below. This step changes some menus and settings.
    • Change the tab to the Services tab. Disable right click through unnecessary services
    • Click Next to proceed to the next step.
    • The configuration of your template installation is complete.
    • Click Next to start creating the image.
    • In this window, leave the default option and then click on Create ISO
    • Select a destination folder ...
    • The ISO image is created so ...
    • Once completed the ISO, you can click on Next.
    • The creation of the disk image is complete.
    • Click the Finish button.
    • So, go see your new disk image file in the directory specified when creating.
    • Now, you must burn the ISO using a burning software i recommend ImTOO ISO Burner 1.0.
