12 Best Applications for Your New Apple IPad

Marketed since May 28, the touch pad from Apple already has an impressive collection of applications. Here are our favorites.

The halfway between smartphone and netbook, the iPad will be held in hand or as the first or as the second. Yet its large screen and a definition of 1024 x 768 pixels, promising wide range of uses. This is an overview of applications that we consider interesting or well made that we offer here. History of discovering what this tablet is capable in areas as diverse as the image, the game or office, plus a utility that facilitates its use.

    Utilities

    SplashID: trunk secret codes

Are you in fear of forgetting too many passwords, account numbers or codes for credit cards? This application lists them as individual files with a multitude of customizable information fields. It is beautifully presented but only works vertically on the iPad. In the longest course, its to fill this database by entering codes and passwords to many sites or forums that we visit regularly; the most important is to protect access to the application itself, given the seeds it contains.

Several methods are proposed, SplashID is also able to create for himself a secure password that we need to take care of to note because it is very difficult to retain a combination of numbers, letters and special characters randomly generated. Each sheet, and their information, can finally be emailed in text mode to an iPhone, iPod or iPad running the same application.

    Search Rocket: Research Turbo

While Google has the answer to most queries. As for the most demanding researchers, they generally resort to meta-engines. But a mobile toy like the iPhone or the iPad, expects first search simple and quick. That is what this application is all about. It offers more than twenty search services: Google at Imdb (Internet Movie Database), via YouTube, Yahoo, and others less known to us that you select a tape before you start your search. Or by typing two or three characters of the keyboard shortcut, followed by the word or phrase to search for. The application keeps a search history. Advantage to the version that displays horizontally iPad engines left and looking right into an integrated browser.

    Photo, drawing and music

    PhotoPad: retouches summary

It does not replace a twenty year old software like Photoshop. However, some applications of image processing bloom. PhotoPad, for example, which recolor the images either globally or by filling an area of a chosen color. Limited settings and pleasing results, but simplistic.

    Ideas: primitive art

If Apple does not like Flash - and perhaps Adobe! - Adobe does not hate the iPad. Proof Ideas with a sort of "Paint" that allows to draw a single application of various sizes on different layers. For example, an image imported into a special layer.

    Games

Pinball HD: three pinball machines or nothing!

There were three sets of flippers to the iPhone: The Deep, Wild West and Jungle Style sold separately. Here they are together in a single application in high resolution for the iPad. As in the iPhone, it is possible to turn the vision into 3D settings for the iPad to play with different types of glasses with colored filters. Each pinball is played on the iPad or vertically in zoom mode (the camera follows close the circuit of the ball), or horizontally, the pool is presented as a whole in perspective.

If shaking the tablet does not alter the trajectory of the ball, the game is excellent, sound and feel cared to visit, each flipper booking number of surprises in its various phases of play for some strange reason. It happens sometimes that the ball hangs a few seconds before resuming his race. But it will not stop the game and does not make a score, the best that can be published on the network.

    Publisher: Gameprom
    Price: $2.99

Small World: the renewal of the board game

Here is a new use for the iPad, which is transformed here into the game board company. The Franco-American publisher Days of Wonder has had the good idea to translate his game strategy Small World, released in April 2009 on the shelf in the Apple brand. In this game of great civilizations shifted to a no-inspired graphics "BD"; players struggle for a world too small to accommodate all the people who want to settle (dwarves, mages, amazons, giants, orcs, humans or other).

To do this, the tablet is placed on a table, like a chessboard, the two players facing each other. Everyone has a turn without the need to reverse the iPad and uses his troops wisely to gain maximum regions while preventing the opponent from doing likewise. There are many advantages compared to the version "board" that cannot go wrong in the phases of the game or cheat and tutorial built into this iPad version can learn the game while playing. The first application of a long series!

    Publisher: Days of Wonder
    Price: $4.99

    PadRacer: Circuit 24 is back

The iPhone was already used as a steering wheel in driving games. With PadRacer, he piloted a rocket early hours of racing on a circuit displayed on the screen of the iPad. So the resurrection of the "circuit" 24 which the iPhone (or iPod Touch) is transformed into controller. The application is downloaded to it once to be installed on the iPad and four iPhone (or iPod Touch) maximum.

The devices communicate with each other using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth option, but the two modes of wireless communication must not be simultaneously active on each device. The unique tour is a bit simplistic and every iPhone screen simply displays a different colored vehicle with front wheels turned by the inclination of the accelerometer. No brakes, no speed to pass. Simple, but extremely promising!
