How to Create a Custom Themes for Playstation 3

Introduction:

The new 2.0 update allows themes (there are icons in the XMB) of any kind, whether football, games, etc..

From this guide learn how to make manual themes and how to save it on our ps3.

Tools you need:

To complete this we need following tools:

• PlayStation 3 Theme Editor .
  
  
• Icons on this page you will find many icons: Sony PS3 Icons , or you can search more icons on google, Where icons needs to be in png format .
  
  
• A means of data transport, either a PS3 memory stick, etc.

How to create the themes?

1. Download PlayStation 3 Theme Editor
   
   
2. Locate the downloaded file.
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. Extracting the PS3_Custom_Theme_v101-E.zip and it will appear as below.
   
   
   
   
   
   
4. Now open the extracted folder and locate the Sample Folder, Inside the Sample Folder you'll find the '01' folder, open it. You'll find the sample theme. Now copy that '01' folder and consider it as a Theme1 folder. In this folder as you can see many .jpg and .png files, these are your new PS3 theme icons and wallpapers or backgrounds.
   
   
   
   
   
5. Now lets move to next step, locate the sample.xml in Theme1 folder and rename it as 'Theme1.xml' , now cut and paste this file into extracted 'p3tcompiler_v101' folder where the 'p3tcompiler.exe' file is present.
   
   
   
   
   
6. Now run the p3tcompiler.exe and after compiling it you'll find the new theme with the name Theme1.p3t in your Theme folder.

Save created Theme into PS3

• Now to put this created theme in PS3, connect the PS3 memory stick with your computer by using any media, like card reader etc
  
  
• Now in memory stick if not present create new folder with the name "PS3" and create another folder with name "Theme" inside the PS3 folder.
  
  
• Copy the created new theme i.e Theme1.p3t in the "Theme folder on PS3 Memory Stick .
  
  
• Insert the Memory Stick in your PS3. And now go to Theme Settings on your PS3 and ‘Install’ the theme from your Memory Stick Theme folder.

Ive followed the steps above, but cant seem to run the p3tcomiler. Everytime i click on it to run, it closes automatically. Nothing new is created at all. Ive even tried dragging the "theme1" file into the p3tcompiler, but i then get an error in the cmd window.
What am i doing wrong????
