How To Backup UMDs on Memory Stick

Requirements :
  • A PSP with Custom Firmware

  • A PSP UMD Game to backup

  • A Computer

  • A USB Cable

How To :
  • If you are not sure, first verify if you have a custom firmware : On your PSP navigate to 'System > System Information' and press 'X' Button to View the information.

  • Open the Recovery Console by pressing Select on the menu screen

  • The Recovery Console should open

  • Press Down Arrow button twice to select USB Device

  • Change setting to UMD Disc by pressing Left Arrow button once

  • Select EXIT and Press X button

  • Insert the UMD into the PSP

  • Connect USB cable to PC and then to PSP

  • Now on your PSP navigate to 'Settings > USB Connection'

  • Press X button to enable the USB Connection

  • Now a Windows will be opened and an ISO file named "UMD9660.ISO" will be displayed.

  • Now move the iso file to any desired location to preserve in case your UMD is damaged.

  • Once you have backed up the file, disconnect the USB connection by pressing 'O' Button

  • Unplug the USB cable and remove the UMD from the PSP

  • Open the Recovery Console and press 'Down Arrow Button' twice to select the USB Device

  • Change the settings to 'Memory Stick' by pressing Right Arrow Button once

  • Select 'Exit' and Press 'X' button to exit the menu

  • Connect the PSP to the computer again via USB Cable

  • Rename the ISO file to an understandable Game's Name

  • Now move the iso file to the ISO folder [don't make any folder inside ISO folder]

  • Now again disconnect the USB connection and unplug the cable

  • Now on your PSP, navigate to 'Game >Memory Stick'

  • Now from the list select the game you want to play

Re: Backing up a PSP's UMD to Memory Card and play from it later

I have been looking for this thing since a long time. I have tried UMD dumper and many more software that would help me backup my UMDs to the memory card so that i can play games from memory card even if my UMD gets scratchy and damaged. But i have never got an easy solution like this one. Thanks a lot for explaining it so well...
