| How to access the computer running Windows 7 without fixed IP
To apply some new features in Windows 7, you should be able to access your computer from anywhere on the Internet. Since most Internet users use broadband connection, they do not have a fixed IP address but a dynamic address that changes everytime. Here are the steps to access your computer from anywhere using the Internet Accessing your computer from the Internet On Internet, any connected machine is identified by a unique IP address. Some computers like the servers have fixed IP address whereas others use dynamic IP address. The later one gets a new IP each time they connect to the Internet. Since IP addresses are not easy to remember, WWW.DYNDNS.ORG service is a service designed for users that have dynamic IP addresses. This service assigns you a free domain name and then allows to trace the changes in your dynamic IP so that the chosen domain name always point to your machine even if its IP changes with time. The process involves 3 basic steps: - Create an account on DynDNS.COM - Setting a DynDNS account and choose your domain name - Setting the Router or the computer |

The method varies depending on the router, but still very similar in all cases.
CASE 2: You are connected to the Internet via a modem. In this case, you have to install a small utility on your machine:

There is no options of "Auto detect IP address" too. Will this be a problem? Another question, my modem is integrated modem/router from Verizon. What do I do? How do I connect to the interface settings? Thank you. |
