Setting Network Configurations in the TViX HD (Macintosh)

Using the TViX with a Macintosh

TViX can be formatted in two ways: FAT 32 or NTFS.
This product cannot be formatted as HFS + (Mac OS Extended).
The FAT 32 allows the TViX connected to USB 2.0 to your Macintosh. Discs using this format Files may be practical to use since they can both be connected to a PC than on a Macintosh, thus easily exchange files. If you do not film very size important in HD, this format is recommended.

The FAT 32 has a number of limitations:

    - Files larger than 4 GB may not be copied.

    - The long names are truncated and some characters can not be used to appoint files, otherwise they will not be copied.

That is why users want to copy the movies to the TViX HD large
prefer to use formatting to NTFS, which will require to connect the TViX to your Ethernet network or computer.

Formatting to NTFS is not currently on the Mac, we have already done this for you. The TViX is directly operational networked Mac or PC using USB 2.0 on PC.

You will find in this note the different procedures to transfer files - videos, music or photos - on the TViX. Both options (NTFS or FAT32 + network + USB 2.0) will be developed.

The procedures for connecting to a PC or use the TViX itself does with your TV you will not be explained in this notice (they are available in the main manual).

Note: NTFS, and Mac OS, you can not transfer files to the TViX by connecting USB 2.0. In fact, Mac OS does yet drives formatted in NTFS in read-only and not reading / writing.

    A. Connecting to USB 2.0 with FAT 32 format:

If you use videos larger, more than 4 GB, mainly by HD, we recommend to use the procedure in connection Ethernet + formatting to NTFS. Proceed in this case directly Chapter B.

    The procedure is very simple:

    - Connect the TViX to your Macintosh via the USB cable.

    - Open Disk Utility located in the folder "Utilities" folder "Applications" of your Macintosh.

    - In Disk Utility, select in the left column lists the various
storage devices, the corresponding disk in TViX.

    - Click on "Clear." Select file format as "MS-DOS"
and then confirm with clicking on the "Clear" button.

    - Once the formatting is complete, the TViX mounts on the desktop of the Macintosh as an external drive classic. Just to drag files and folders of your choice.

Note: Formatting in FAT 32 can take from 2 to 10 minutes depending on the capacity of the disc.

    B. Ethernet connection with formatting to NTFS:

    Important:

    - The disk is already formatted to NTFS by us.

    - Do not connect the USB 2.0 drive, it only works in read-only.

    - Do not reformat the drive with your Macintosh if you want to choose how to use NTFS + network.

    - If you have accidentally reformatted the drive as FAT 32 or HFS + (Mac OS Extended), you should connect the TViX to a PC running Windows 2000/XP or Vista if you want to reformat to NTFS.

    - You can connect the TViX formatted FAT 32 in Ethernet, but, as explained earlier this leaflet, you will meet a number of limitations. Formatting to NTFS is the most effective.

    1. Connections:

Connect the TViX to a Macintosh network cable RJ45 (preferably Class 5 minimum). If your Macintosh is a network connected to a router, do not directly connect the TViX to the Macintosh, but rather to router (via a switch if necessary).

    2. TViX's network settings:

If the TViX is connected directly to the Macintosh, you must assign a static IP address. It is connected with a network router, simply opt for DHCP configuration. Manipulations to be performed are indicated on page 19 of the main manual.

    3. Network settings of Macintosh:

Open Network Preferences on your Mac.

If the TViX and the Macintosh connected to a network comprising a router, just configure the Macintosh DHCP.

If the TViX is connected directly to the Macintosh, manually configure the network preferences. If your computer was previously connected to the Internet, keep in mind the old configuration will not be caught off guard when you want to connect again.

    4. Copying files to the TViX:

To move or delete files to the TViX when connected with a cable network, you must use an FTP client.
    Download the free software RBrowser:

    HTTP Download: RBrowser.L.4.4.9.dmg
    FTP Download: RBrowser.L.4.4.9.dmg

Once this software installed in your "Applications", run it. The following dialog box appears at first use:

If you want the login and passwords you enter are stored in the keychain of Mac OS, click on "Use KeyChain.

A dialog box appears (see below) asking you if you want to use this software only as FTP client (in this case it is free) or access to its full
features. Then click on "FTP Only."

The dialog box for connecting to an FTP server is displayed (see below). Enter The IP address of your TViX in the "Host", "tvixftp" for username and password of your TViX in "Password"

Re: Setting Network Configurations in the TViX HD (Macintosh)

Note: if you do not remember the IP address of your TViX, you can find by going to its network settings (see screenshot of page 25 of the TV main manual) and selecting "TViX Network Info." In the same window, you will also see the FTP password (or "FTP password ").

Once the setup is complete, click "Connect", then you go to a browser showing you the contents of the TViX (see illustration below). Do not delete any files, they were created by the TViX and are essential for its proper functioning. He who collect movies, photos or music is called "disk1".

To copy files to the TViX, simply drag the folder "disk1". If you want delete a file that you copied to "disk1", click (no double-click) on the icon file then click delete browser FTP.

    Notes:

    - If you accidentally format your TViX (in USB connection only) to FAT 32 or Mac OS extended and you want to reformat to NTFS, you must use a PC
    to accomplish this.

    - It is quite possible to use the TViX formatted FAT 32 in the network, but the NTFS is more effective.

    - For using your TViX to your TV (read, slideshows, etc ...), see the Main leaflet.

We hope you enjoy using your TViX.
