    The best mobile phone applications

Now a days, there has been more and more opportunities that have come with smart phones like the Nokia S60 phones, Windows Mobile phones and iPhones. They work almost as PCs and have opportunities for many new applications that let you do everything from playing games to editing photos.

It is not just smart phones that have these possibilities. You can also make new applications for "regular" phones. The biggest difference is that these programs, also known as Java applications, is not as advanced and often have fewer opportunities. This is because they can not integrate as tightly to the phone as on smart phones.

The differences in Java and smartphone applications are not as great as before, and Java applications have become more sophisticated as the phones get more opportunities.

If you enjoy the use of additional software, you must learn how to install it. So we have written a small detailed guide that gives you the information you need.

Iphone owners have it even easier. These phones have which is a software shop built, so that new applications are only a few click away.

    Applications for Nokia S60

Most smart phones running the so-called S60 interface. This is the system we use for all their smart phones, such as N-series and E-Series to name a few. Samsung and LG also make phones with the S60.

The range of applications to this platform is great. Here are some of our favorites:

    Vsun

vSun is an SNES emulator for mobiles. It allows you to play Super Nintendo classics like Super Mario World on your mobile. You can put games from thousands of roms in your pocket, play them anytime and anywhere, with the memories and joys of old time. This is an emulator that allows your phone into a Nintendo. Works with a number of old Super Nintendo games. Is a little slow if you have sound on. Without sound, it works great.

    Features:
    • Much faster: vSun Plus can emulate many games very smoothly. It is much faster than vSun 1.1
    • Less memory: vSun Plus only need 640K plus ROM size to emulate a rom. It can also run with big ROM on Nokia 3650,7650
    • Bluetooth multiplay!
    • More graphics options

    Developer: Vampent
    Requirement: Nokia Series 60 (3650, 7650, N-Gage, N-Gage QD, 6600, 7610, 6630...)

    Vnes

vNes is a NES emulator for mobiles. It lets you play Nintendo 8-bits games on your mobile. It is fastest - with NES instructions optimizing, it can be even run smoothly in J2ME(java in mobiles). It is same as vSun, but the only difference is it allows you to play the old Nintendo games from the good old gray box that appeared on the 80-century. Works brilliant with (for symbian, smartphone) and without sound, perfect speed and most roms. It supports many different mobile models.

    Features:
    • New screen size for portrait/landscape/rotate mode
    • Improved drawing speed for "highest quality"
    • 44K sound output for Nokia 6630,6680 (previous version 16K)
    • Improved screen speed for Nokia 6680 that has 262K colors
    • Add more than 20 maps (especially support for N-in-1 roms)

    Requirements:
    • For vNes J2ME 1.2:
      • J2ME MIDP 2.0 supported

    Google Latitude

If you are not afraid that people will know where you are, you should take a look at Google Latitude. This is part of the Google Maps application, and makes it possible to see on a map where your friends are. This requires of course that they use the program and allows you to see where they are located. A small disadvantage of the program is that the position will only be updated when you have it open. Put it in the background position will not be automatically updated.

    With Google Latitude, you can:
    • See where your friends are and what they are up to
    • Quickly contact them with SMS, IM, or a phone call
    • Control your location and who gets to see it

Google Latitude is a feature of Google Maps for mobile on these phones:
    • Android-powered devices, such as the T-Mobile G1
    • iPhone and iPod touch devices
    • Most color BlackBerry devices
    • Most Windows Mobile 5.0+ devices
    • Most Symbian S60 devices (Nokia smartphones)

    Download: Google Latitude

    Nokia Sports Tracker

Nokia Sports Tracker is a GPS-based activity tracker that runs on compatible Nokia mobile devices. Information such as speed, distance, and time are automatically stored in your training diary. Then you can later visit these trails, and investigate whether you can do it in less time. Data from the training can also be exported to, for example, Google Earth, so you can see more of the sessions close. If you train the condition, this is a very nifty little application that lets you keep track of workouts.

    Download: Free from Nokia.com

    Joikuspot

JoikuSpot software shares your phone's 3G internet connection over Wifi (WLAN). Connect your laptop to web everywhere using your mobile phone via WiFi. Replace clumsy USB modems and Bluetooth with JoikuSpot software. Make your phone into a wireless access point. The program allows you to search up the phone as a wireless zone. Well worth the money if you frequently use the mobile phone as internet connection.

You can effectively replace Bluetooth, cable, USB modems with JoikuSpot and save money, time and hassle.
