How to sync iPod Touch / iPhone with Sunbird ?

I have an article found in explaining how the free Sunbird calendar with the iPhone / iPod Touch can sync. Besides the synchronize method from Google "Google Sync Service" can also be unfamiliar with its data exchange tools.

    1. Introduction
    2. Requirements
    3. Brief Overview
    4. Step-by-step explanation

    1. Hello iPod Touch & iPhone owners

Perhaps it is also faced with the problem, which the Touch or the iPhone only work with Outlook'03 /'07 synchronize, but not with Sunbird etc. Calendar programs. Although I have no direct solution, but also with the detours is all fully automatic, easily, and even wireless.

    2. Also condition is an iPod Touch / iPhone with the 2.x firmware, (other iPods do not work, because the Exchange server and the WLAN functionality used) or another, on Windows Mobile-based device with Internet connectivity. Furthermore, the calendar software to synchronize Google Calendar with Sunbird, this is about this add-on possible. In addition, a Google Calendar account is required.

    3. So a brief overview of the synchronization:

    1. The dates are from Sunbird with Google Calendar Sync

    2. From Google Calendar displays events using this free service through the Exchange interface on the iPod / iPhone into the iPod / iPhone loaded. The data is saved to the device, there must be no permanent Internet connection available.

The process also works vice versa, this means that appointments on the device will also be entered on the PC land.

    4. Step to iPod Touch / iPhone sync with Sunbird :

4.1. First, the add-on for Sunbird installed, because this next to the house of an integrated read-out on the Google Calendar, a write access is possible. Once the file has been downloaded, click on Tools in Sunbird Add-ons Install. Here you select the downloaded add-on from an *. XPI file and click Open, Install, and finally to restart Sunbird. After Sunbird has been restarted, the add-on installed and active.

4.2. Next, the Google Calendar in Sunbird process. This logs you in first in the Google Calendar, click the top right of the window, click Settings, then under the calendar settings on the Calendar tab and then click the name of the calendar here Calendar example.
If no calendar is available, by clicking the New Calendar A new calendar will be created.
Now it scrolls to the bottom of the page and selects the point behind the private ICAL address format. The link now appears to be copied to the clipboard.

4.3. In Sunbird now click on File -> Subscribe to external calendars. There, you can choose the network and confirm by clicking Next. On the following page, select the Google calendar, and adds in the Address field from the previously copied the Google Preferences link and confirm by clicking Next.

Then add in the password box, Google Calendar password, so that Google Sunbird to access the calendar permits. The User Name field is already filled.

If the password function is used, I recommend strongly Sunbrid in the settings under Advanced -> passwords, a master password set.

In the following window settings may further regarding the appearance of the Sunbird calendar to be made, such as the name under which the Sunbird calendar to appear.

By clicking Next and Finish we d kill the process. If the Google calendar has dates, these are now also displayed in Sunbird. Now you can add appointments, as usual, changed or deleted, the changes are immediately in the Google calendar.

It is important to make sure that in the left column in the register list of the calendar to Google Calendar (identified by its name) with a check mark is enabled, all other calendar should be disabled when all of these appointments in Google Calendar have been transferred. This is by clicking File, and External calendar reload to reach. If only Google Calendar is activated should now continue to make all appointments appear.

4.4 now have the dates yet from Google Calendar to your iPod / iPhone.

This is a free service NuevaSync needed. (Alternatively, this service from Google used it myself I have not tried yet because it only after I get my iPod set up with NuevaSync had been available. Both services will be designated as Beta. In addition, the Google service needs firmware 2.2 or higher , and all those following a similar Jailbreak not want to upgrade, because all programs are lost (like me) are better served with NuevaSync, where any 2.x firmware is sufficient.)

Once you are also here an account set up and the link in the confirmation email is clicked, click on the page now appears on the setup.

On the next page enables you to synchronize the calendar with a click on Change in the corresponding row. Here the clicks on Google, and click Change to configure your service ... and there in the field of id Your Google account Google's e-mail address (Google username + @ googlemail.com)

Then NuevaSync allows you to access Google Calendar by clicking on the Google page that opens on click Grant access (before you may need to log in to Google).

By clicking continue, the configuration of the NueavaSync accounts closed.

Re: How to sync iPod Touch / iPhone with Sunbird ?

]Now, only the iPod / iPhone set (configuration for Windows Mobile devices are as below)

On the iPod / iPhone, it is as follows: Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account -> Microsoft Exchange

For E-mail gives you the e-mail address with which you are NuevaSync has registered, not necessarily the Google address. If you are concerned with the Google address has been registered, of course, this gives you here.

Under Username NuevaSync gives you the user name, password in the password that you used when NuevaSync.

Under description can be any description of the account are entered. This description is in the iPod / iPhone later as an account name.

Here clicks on return-> Next-> Accept.

Now, there is server www.nuevasync.com and click on Return, and click Next.

Now choose e-mails and contacts, so that only the calendar is synchronized. If you NuevaSync with another service in addition to the calendar synchronization has chosen, so that you can obviously also activated.

It follows a click on Done.

Congratulations. If you now open the calendar, your dates should already be registered.
