How to install Google Earth in Ubuntu

Two methods to install Google Earth
    • Download Google Earth 5.0
    • Make the file executable
    • Type chmod + x. / GoogleEarthLinux.bin
    • 1.1.3. Start the installation
    • Type: sudo. / GoogleEarthLinux.bin
and follow the installation (you can leave the defaults)

Add a shortcut in the main menu
    • Menu "System"> "Preferences"> "Main Menu".
    • Choose one of the menus (for example, "Education") and click on "New Item".
    • Type: Application
    • Name: Google Earth
    • Command: / usr / local / bin / googleearth
    • For the icon, click "No icon" and enter: / opt / google-earth / googleearth-icon.png
      Confirm everything.
    • And now: Google Earth has been added to our menu.

    Deinstall Google Earth

    • Remove the directory / opt / google-earth and everything in it.
    • Delete the shortcut / usr / local / bin / googleearth
    • Delete the preferences directory ~ /. Googleearth

Re: How to install Google Earth in Ubuntu

    With deposits

Google Earth is not available in the repositories of Ubuntu by default, but in the Medibuntu repositories.

    Add Medibuntu Repositories source software

Add this source for Ubuntu Hardy:

    deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ hardy free non-free

or this one for Ubuntu Intrepid

    deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ intrepid free non-free

    via "System"> "Administration"> "Software Sources"

It must then import the authentication key: for this, type:

    wget-q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg-O-| sudo apt-key add --

    Install Google Earth

Open a terminal and type: sudo aptitude install googleearth-4.3

When installation is complete, the shortcut is in the "Application"> "Internet".

    Uninstall Google Earth

Just type sudo aptitude remove googleearth-4.3
or sudo aptitude purge googleearth-4.3 to remove the configuration files directory.
