    Coolplayer Music Player

In the featherweight category of music players, here is an interesting challenger. Coolplayer, unlike the current trend that makes our players real gas plants to do everything, is just a music player. Better still, this is a small executable, which guarantees him a launch instant, the opportunity to take him wherever you go and use it on any computer without installing from your USB drive . Moreover, the authors of the excellent compilation Framakey, combining the best of the free software to the USB, did not make mistakes because they have chosen Coolplayer for the audio.

Light, therefore, it is. But also smaller in the belly: playing MP3 and OGG files by default, you can add skins light and pleasant to the eye, plugins support for even greater compatibility (Monkey Audio, FLAC, AAC. ..), managing M3U playlists, shuffle mode, or anything you need to read music and, for once, nothing more.

    Notice the wording:
Despite its somewhat obsolete concreption will smile lovers software features more mature as foobar2000 or Winamp 5, XMPlay brings a breath of fresh air: a music player that does just that. Very nice!

    Notice the wording:
If you do not need advanced encoding or handle ID3 tags for it! Coolplayer is a small gem of minimalism and lightness, but still pretty cool.

    XMPlay Music Player

In the category of small music players that are under the hood, here XMPlay, a competitor but discreet which deserves to be known. XMPlay takes its name from its origin: the drive was primarily aimed at XM files that fans know mods. The software has come a long way since then, it now reads many audio formats: MP3, OGG, WMA and WAV standard, but also FLAC, AAC or Monkey Audio via plugins and even many of music formats Video Games (C64, Amiga, SNES ...)

No frills at the interface, however XMPlay has little to envy the "big" in this field. Skins freeform and plugins are the same if they are obviously not as many as Winamp. Just like Coolplayer, XMPlay embraced not only features and only offers that proposed Winamp 2.x

    Evil Player

If interfaces and advanced audio players you leave marble, if you are looking for a light and music player compatible with a wide range of audio files, Evil Player you might be interested, since it is so minimalist would spend almost Foobar2000 for software interface overloaded.

Here, no skins or manage the audio library: Evil Player interface offers a window playlist to Winamp, you can add a file, folder (and its subfolders) or a URL as software is compatible with the flow SHOUTcast. All Evil Player options are accessible from the context menu or keyboard shortcuts: no extravagant features but it is much like the choice of reading (repeat, random ...) or the association of files . These are likely to be recognized by the player: MP3, AAC, Ogg, FLAC, APE, MPC, WAV or AIFF are supported Evil Player is playing but also in different formats Mods (MOD, XM, S3M, MTM .. .)

    Notice the wording:
A reader at least, without doubt too much for some users, but its lightness will undoubtedly find its audience among those looking for basic audio player and effective.

    Vox 0.2.6

The music players are not that on the Mac, once it is out of the inevitable iTunes. There are certainly some "old" still functional as Audion, or promising projects such as Songbird, but it lacks a player capable of playing multiple formats without being a complete solution for managing a library audio.

Formerly known as ToolPlayer Vox could be this one: the player has a unique role to play a lot of files audio formats FLAC, MP3, AAC, Musepack, Monkey's Audio, OGG Vorbis, Apple Lossless, AIFF WAV and are taken into account, and even some formats "trackers" (IT, MOD, XM). The interface is good and the software has a graphic equalizer, and multiple effects (time stretching, pitch shifting, reverb, chorus ...) and even export tracks in WAV format. There are obviously no audio library, but if your albums are stored in their files ToolPlayer read all the files in a directory.

    Notice the wording:
Vox could well be the XMPlay or Coolplayer Mac. The software is still in its infancy, but they are already promising. A watch!
