Uninstall Office 2007 if you can not uninstall it via "Add/Remove Programs"

This article describes how to uninstall Microsoft Office System 2007 if you can not uninstall it via the Add/Remove Programs feature in Control Panel.

If you want to reinstall Office System 2007, we suggest that you first uninstall it via the Add/Remove Programs feature in Control Panel. When this method is successful, Office System 2007 is completely uninstalled. To check whether the product Office 2007 can be removed using Add/Remove Programs, follow these steps.

For Windows XP or Windows Server 2003:
    1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    3. Select a product in the 2007 Office System applications and click Remove.

    For Windows Vista:
    1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
    2. Click the Uninstall a program in the Programs in Control Panel.
    3. Click to select the product to be uninstalled in the installed products, and then click Uninstall icon which displays the activities available.

However, the removal of 2007 Office System through this method is not complete. Problems may occur, for example, problems with the Programs dialog box. Or it may not uninstall some components of Office 2007. In these cases, it might not be able to reinstall Office 2007.

This article describes an alternative method that can be used to uninstall the Office 2007 in place. After using this alternative method, you can reinstall Office 2007.

    Note
You must not use this alternative method instead of the recommended method, because the alternative is not possible to completely uninstall Office 2007.
