3DMark2001 SE

3DMark2001 SE runs a wide range of tests to measure both overall 3D performance and speed, analyzing and displaying all system specifications from the driver versions to the exact hardware components of the PC.

A new DirectX 9 compatible benchmark from massive Development

This is AquaMark 3 - unfortionately the programmers, Massive development, do not exsist anymore. That does not mean you can't use this great tool though ! A new DirectX 9 compatible benchmark from massive Development. The latest graphics cards on the market are almost all DirectX9 compatible these days, and we can also see an increasing number of games utilizing the new DX9 features. To be able to see how well a graphics card is performing in this new challenging DirectX 9 environment, AquaMark was developed.

AquaMark 3, however, is not solely a DirectX9 benchmark; if you are working with a DirectX 8 or 7 compatible graphics card, you will still be able to use it just with a lot of graphical features missing. Make no mistake, AquaMark3 is a DirectX 9 benchmark. But since it's based on a real game engine it has fallbacks to DirectX 8 and even DirectX 7.

PCMark04

This application-based benchmark is a premium tool for measuring overall PC performance. It uses portions of real applications instead of including large applications or using specifically created code. This allows PCMark04 to be a smaller installation as well as to report very accurate results. As far as possible, PCMark04 uses public-domain applications whose source code can freely be examined by any user. The build 120 includes fix for the Grammar Check test on AMD Athlon64 FX-53 processors, updated SystemInfo, and DivX Encoding test modified to prevent a possible cheat.

PCMark05

PCMark05 is the successor to Futuremark's 2002 and 2004 editions. Futuremark has added some new tests, especially to the graphics and cpu test suites. There are some new 3D tests like pixelshader performance and others. PCMark05 now supports measuring dual core processor performance because the user can run some multithreaded tests. The memory suite has been updated with larger blocks to read/write, to meet todays application requirements. The overall system suite is much more balanced testing all your system's components.

PCMark05 is a great tool to measure your systems performance. If you tweak your system you can quickly verify if it had any profit. The tool is very easy to use and considering all the features included, the price for the Advance edition is hardly to complain about.

It measures computing power of a CPU system by burning its instructions at default capacity serially, regardless of the number of CPU on a system. Prime95

Over the years, Prime95 has become extremely popular among PC enthusiasts and overclockers as a stability testing utility. It includes a "Torture Test" mode designed specifically for testing PC subsystems for errors in order to help ensure the correct operation of Prime95 on that system, which effectively stress-tests a PC.

"Torture Test" that allows maximum stress testing on the CPU and RAM. There are several options allowing the stress test to focus on the memory, processor, or a balance of both.

Usually Prime95 will detect an error within a matter of minutes if an overclock is not stable, however many people like to let the system "burn-in" overnight to ensure long-term stability.

CPU-Z

CPU-Z is a freeware detection program base on the Panopsys hardware detection engine.

Cpu-Z allows you to get some info on your computer, including:
- Processor name and vendor
- Core stepping and process
- Processor package
- Processor current core voltage
- Internal and external clocks, clock multiplier
- Partial overclock detection
- Processor features, including supported instructions sets.
- L1 to L3 cache information : location, size, speed, technology.
- Motherboard information : name, vendor, BIOS, chipset, memory, AGP.
- Memory information : size, type, timings, specifications.

CPU-Z also provides several tools:
- A complete report, that includes CPUID, MSR, PCI device list, SPD, DMI.
- A cache latency calculation tool

This tool computes the real latency of each cache memory level. Notice that the reported sizes may not be the correct ones on CPUs that use an exclusive L2 (for example a Duron will report a 128Kb L2 cache size instead of 64Kb, because the L1 size in included).

Moreover, notice that using this tool if the CPUs is heavy loaded can provide bad results. Please use the "Refresh" button to restart the calculation.

Speedfan

SpeedFan allows you to have a deeper view of the status of your computer. Almost every computer includes support for hardware monitoring. Accessing digital temperature sensors is really useful. If you are trying to figure out why your pc hangs when under heavy load or after some hours of usage, SpeedFan might help you to find the real cause. Very often it is a poor power supply, or an improperly installed heatsink that lead to behaviours that we tend to associate with errors from the operating system, but that are not. SpeedFan automatically searches your computer for interesting chips: the hardware monitor chips. SpeedFan can expose voltages, fan speeds and temperatures. On rare occasions, the BIOS doesn't activate such features. SpeedFan tries to enable them as long as this is a safe thing to do. Not only the motherboard is searched, but also some video cards and almost every recent hard disk. SpeedFan can access status info from EIDE, SATA and even SCSI drives, showing, in a consistent way, internal data that can be used to diagnose current and future hard disk failures. This is known as S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology). At the lowest level, SpeedFan is a hardware monitor software that can access digital temperature sensors, but its main feature is that it can control fan speeds according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing noise.
