Manually cleaning the inside of a computer

    Introduction

When the computer takes a long time and it begins to fail, it is common to think that the problem is presented by a blighted property and if the fault goes beyond our few or many skills, we believe that the best alternative is -- even - to buy a new computer.

Needless to point out that this way of thinking is wrong, because about 70% of the cases, a computer fails for lack of proper maintenance. Before saying "the fault is the memory, we must ensure that 100% is the memory that fails and you have no dirt, moisture in contracts from memory, something that would cause read errors and mistakes in its post the proper functioning of the whole.

With the above it is that recognize the importance of proper maintenance that will allow us to optimize the operation of our computer, and in case of faults, locate the component that caused it to fail again and replace the operating system.

    Recommendations pre-cleaning

    IMPORTANT
The cleaning of a computer is something delicate, but those who have no experience or are not sure what to do is best not try because it may lead to irreparable physical damage.
    • Before opening the cabinet / case / cover disconnect power cables, video, USB devices, etc, and touches the metal part of it at least 15 sec. This is to prevent any damage to your built-up component when handling.
    • Prior to disarm, disconnect or remove it is advisable to give utmost attention of how and where the piece was going or cable. While the vast majority of the components fit together to form 1 single and 1 single place, not in all cases it is.
    • Do not disconnect or connect anything on the computer while it is on, it could burn a piece or could cause electrical shock.
    • When you're connecting or disconnecting a piece but do not force enters, it could leave or fold it, everything is made to fit well.
    • If you are going to do the maintenance, try not to touch the chips a lot of components that grip, could burn or deteriorate.
    • If the computer does not boot after the maintenance do not despair, then disconnect and reconnect everything to connect with attention.

Re: Manually cleaning the inside of a computer

    Materials necessary for first steps

We start by shutting down your computer and remove the lids or at least the front cover, it is advisable to use an antistatic wrist before touching anything, this to prevent damage to components when touched, recalling that our body can accommodate 3.3v enough to kill a chip, but particularly those I have never used, I always discharge by touching the drawer for 3 seconds.

Before you start with all maintenance you must verify the status of the basic components of the motherboard, such as capacitors or capacitor, it is common that when damage to swell at the top or bottom, some tend to burst hurling a liquid sometimes black and sometimes brown, if you notice any of them damaged should proceed to change it because it is more likely to be the source of the problem. A portion of the capacitors where you should pay close attention to the plate to verify that you do not have any black patch that shows burn, some runway broken up or burned, or any item or piece loose.

Once opened the drawer and checked the status of the components proceed with the cleanup, we should have on hand the following materials:

    • Antistatic wristband (optional)
    • Small Brush
    • An eraser
    • A Blower
    • Oil 3-IN-ONE
    • Screwdriver, or as if a computer's programs (COMPAQ, IBM, HP, DELL ... ....) Is probable that the screws are kind TORX need a screwdriver and such.
    • Screwdriver blade or plane.

    Begin maintenance:

1 - We start the maintenance by disconnecting the power of the motherboard and all the other ingredients, after this step will proceed to remove the source of the drawer.

2 - We shall now proceed to draw the memories and clean the contacts with the eraser, this is done to remove the dirt and dust being made in the contacts of this component, once done that clean excess draft that can stay with the brush. Try not to touch a lot of chips and double the memory, this could damage it. Finished cleaning up the memory if you have an e-cleansing what we used in the memory slot. Once the cleanup to proceed as it was put, taking care not to place it upside down because you can burn the memory or the motherboard, take into account that the memory can only go one way and 1 without exerting great force, The simplest way to see if it is well placed is that the 2 tabs on the sides are closed.

3 - After you clear all the expansion cards such as network cards, sound, modem, video capture, or anything else connected to a slot for expansion. We must remove the card and clean the contacts with an eraser or eraser and a brush to clean the surplus from the draft and other parts of the component.

4 - Then we're going to wipe all existing fans, that we do with the brush, we should try to be black and the blades of the fan with the least possible amount of dirty, both on the one hand and on the other. Once you've assured us that they are clean blade put 3 in 1 oil or a similar one in the axis of the fan. The fans do not need oil INTEL original 3-IN-ONE, unless the fan is very deteriorated and hardly any turn, but the vast majority of cases do not need oil.

5 - The coils should be cleaned as well, these are accommodated in the dust that absorbs the fan. The best recommendation is to do with the brush and dust that normally sticks to that area and a Blow it is not possible to remove it altogether.

6 - The motherboard / mother board / motherboard with the clean Blow or in the absence of what we do with a brush, especially the parts where more dust accumulates, that is close to the fans as the Processor.

7 - Once the maintenance can clean up the remnants of powder with Blow in the event of having one, then proceed to verify that everything is connected properly, paying attention to every detail. Check that the fans are properly connected.

8 - Proceed to turn on the computer with the lid open, this is done to verify that all fans are operating correctly and in the event it does not immediately turn off the computer from the power button, removing the power cord or shutting down the regulator and proceed to connect the fan.

    Cleaning the source of power

The cleaning of the computer power is pretty basic, if we have a Blower work which is shortened to less than 2 minutes. Basically what we have to do is clean the fan of the source of power with the brush verify that it is not much trace of powder, and place 2 drops of oil 3-IN-ONE or any similar in the shaft, the components are clean by the source of power with the brush or Blow and lid.

    Basic maintenance for inexperienced

For those who still are afraid to touch or remove components this much is recommended that you only follow the recommendations mentioned in this post first steps and steps 2, 3, 4 and 5 of this post of Begin maintenance, then proceeded to squeeze all wires, if possible just remove the cables and place them at once to make sure they are well connected. With these steps you can be appointed to obtain a minimum maintenance but functional as the pieces that are named in these steps are most often become dirty and fail.
