Creating an Image ( Ghost ) Partition Using Norton Ghost

An Image System also called "Ghost Image" or "Ghost" because of a software solution strong-known is a backup of the entire contents of a partition (or even the entire multiple partitions). No distinction is made in this content. We can say that an image system is the "photocopy" of the partition at the moment T (T is the time of backup).

It must distinguish between the image system data backup. Typically, the data are stored continuously or regularly, selecting the directories to take into account and often incremental manner.

The system change infrequently and there is no interest in an image frequently. To create an image, we must choose the partition and not directories. The backup is to preserve everything that is specified first, and then only files modified in the future by keeping separate copies of the original file. Backing up data and image system are far removed from their purpose and their method.

1 - Why Do you Need It?

Anything can happen! A virus or trojan or a spyware, put panic into the system. The installation or upgrade software or a driver has made the system unstable, or worse, out of service. Electric shock destroyed components (motherboard ).

However, Windows XP requires reinstall if there is a change of motherboard (unless it is replaced by another identical characteristics).

How long will you lose? Reinstall Windows, and it just will last at least 1 hour! To this, add installation time peripherals and software! I do not know about you but in my case, reinstall Windows from the start cost me at least 1 week! Many software, all settings of custom applications and system security and patch ... All this by step to validate the stability and while I have other emergencies!

Hence the need to create a system image. The creation takes me 3 minutes of preparation and lasts 30 minutes while restoring the image is completed in 15 minutes (Athlon 2400xp +, 1GB of RAM, Windows disk and an 12 GB is filled to 10 GB).

When you can no longer start Windows, you can access your computer by using Norton Ghost 10.0 Symantec Recovery Disk

The recovery environment makes restoring your computer possible after almost any computer disaster. Occasionally, a computer failure can leave the operating system intact but prevent you from restoring a recovery point after restarting. Or, a computer failure can leave the operating system inoperative, making restoration seem impossible. For these types of situations, you can restore your computer by using a recovery point from within the recovery environment (Symantec Recovery Disk). In the recovery environment, you can run the Recover My Computer Wizard (to restore your computer) or the Recover My Files Wizard (to restore files or folders). After you run the Recover My Computer Wizard, you can restart the computer into its previous, usable state.

Norton Ghost 10.0 contains two files, Norton Ghost 10.0 and Symantec Recovery Disk .ISO file. The Norton Ghost 10.0 file contains Setup.exe. Setup.exe is used to download NG061000EN.exe. When the download is complete, the installation procedure for Norton Ghost 10.0 automatically starts. The Symantec Recovery Disk .ISO file contains the files necessary to create the Symantec Recovery Disk CD

Burning the ISO file to CD

An ISO file is a complete "image file" of a CD-ROM. To burn an ISO image to a CD, you must have a CD-R/RW drive and a CD-creation software package (such as GEAR PRO Professional Edition, Roxio Easy CD Creator, Nero Burning ROM) that is capable of burning image files to CD.

Burning an ISO image to CD is not simply a matter of copying the ISO file to a CD. Most CD-R/RW authoring utilities have a special feature that allows you to transfer different formats of image files to CD. After you have correctly transferred the ISO image to CD, you will be able to use the CD to install your product or boot your computer with the CD just as if you had purchased a new product CD.

    • Gear PRO Professional Edition: Use the "Open external physical image" feature to burn the .ISO to a CD. Refer to the software's documentation for further instructions.

    • Nero Burning ROM: Use the "Burn Image" feature to burn the .ISO image to CD. Refer to the software's documentation for further instructions.

    • Easy CD Creator: Use the "Create CD from Disc Image" feature or "Record to CD" to burn the .ISO image to CD. Refer to the software's documentation for further instructions.

If you do not have any CD burning program on your computer, you can download GEAR ISO Burn from the GEAR Software Web site.

    1. Go to the GEAR ISO Burn download page.

    2. Click Download Now, and save the file to the desktop.

    3. On your Windows desktop, double-click the GEARISOBurn.exe file.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    4. After the installation is completed, double-click the GEAR ISO Burn shortcut icon on your Windows desktop.

    5. In the GEAR ISO Burn window, click Browse and locate the ISO file that you have downloaded.

If you have more than one CD/DVD drives, select your CD/DVD writer from the drop-down menu.

    6. Insert a blank CD into the CD/DVD drive.

    7. Click Burn.

I have built the program automatically receive and install equipment for all mainboard. You only need to download and extract all of all to form an ISO file.
Then you just use Nero to burn Burn a CD (just one CD is enough)
    - Remove the disc and just press Enter 2 times the program will automatically Now a ghost version of Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003, including a number of useful software for you.
    - After the ghost is complete you just reboot and will have a program recorded the entire device mainboard and install equipment for them.
Note: Supports SATA and checked many times on many computer configurations.
In Vietnam there are many who use the Web Site. Currently I have shared this version for a community of IT in the U.S. and Japan and they were very happy about it.
