Warning: Wrong overclock can damage or ruin your hardware, you should do it very carefully. Also bear in mind that it can invalidate the security component.
Today both Riva Tuner and ATi Tool is compatible with nVidia and ATI. The way to overclock in both cases is very similar, anyway on this occasion I was better to make two examples separately and that each focus on the most convenient for you. In Part Three, there is a brief explanation of how to make a simple OL ATi Tool.
- Part One, Overclock with Riva Tuner in ATi
Graphic: MSI Radeon 9800PRO 128MB/256BITS (RX9800PRO-TD128SP)
To access options of overclocking, you need to click on the small arrow to the right of "Customize" that will be deployed and the menu will be seen in the second catch.
Then click on the first button, called "Low-Level System tweaks."
Now we have to check "Enable Low-Level Hardware Overclock."
This is important if we have not done overclock. With another program put "Detect Now" and need not be restarted. If previously we overclock with another program and put "Detect Now", the program will detect the frequencies to overclock already applied to another program, which is why we must be careful. Failure to recall the original frequencies to detect put "Reboot"
We started to climb with Riva Tuner, 20MHz at the same time, first with the core. Then press the "Test" button. Once the verification is completed, click Apply / OK for the changes to take effect.
We now turn 3DMark 2003 if possible, although the 2001 game or even some "demanding" in terms of graphics we serve without problems. If you pass the test without "standstill", or things rare artifacts, we continue to rise with the same procedure.
On the contrary, when we see artifacts in games, or directly to your computer "freezes" in 3D applications, it's time to go back to last overclock that worked properly.
The graphic example of "holding back" in the core to 425MHz and 760MHz for the memory, from there begins to show artifacts (remember that we are with cooling "serial") and probably with better cooling, raise something else. The temperature is quite high in both core and in memories, and continue to rise, it could mean damage.
