    Overclocking guide in charts

Warning: Wrong overclock can damage or ruin your hardware, you should do it very carefully. Also bear in mind that it can invalidate the security component.

Today both Riva Tuner and ATi Tool is compatible with nVidia and ATI. The way to overclock in both cases is very similar, anyway on this occasion I was better to make two examples separately and that each focus on the most convenient for you. In Part Three, there is a brief explanation of how to make a simple OL ATi Tool.

    • Part One, Overclock with Riva Tuner in ATi
      Graphic: MSI Radeon 9800PRO 128MB/256BITS (RX9800PRO-TD128SP)

To access options of overclocking, you need to click on the small arrow to the right of "Customize" that will be deployed and the menu will be seen in the second catch.

Then click on the first button, called "Low-Level System tweaks."

Now we have to check "Enable Low-Level Hardware Overclock."

This is important if we have not done overclock. With another program put "Detect Now" and need not be restarted. If previously we overclock with another program and put "Detect Now", the program will detect the frequencies to overclock already applied to another program, which is why we must be careful. Failure to recall the original frequencies to detect put "Reboot"

We started to climb with Riva Tuner, 20MHz at the same time, first with the core. Then press the "Test" button. Once the verification is completed, click Apply / OK for the changes to take effect.

We now turn 3DMark 2003 if possible, although the 2001 game or even some "demanding" in terms of graphics we serve without problems. If you pass the test without "standstill", or things rare artifacts, we continue to rise with the same procedure.

On the contrary, when we see artifacts in games, or directly to your computer "freezes" in 3D applications, it's time to go back to last overclock that worked properly.

The graphic example of "holding back" in the core to 425MHz and 760MHz for the memory, from there begins to show artifacts (remember that we are with cooling "serial") and probably with better cooling, raise something else. The temperature is quite high in both core and in memories, and continue to rise, it could mean damage.

Part 2, Overclock with nVidia Riva Tuner

    • Part two, Overclock with nVidia Riva Tuner

Under "Drivers" press the little button to the right of "Customize". This is because nVidia speed core and memories changes according to how you use it. We are giving the chart at any given moment, and what we need is to improve performance in 3D mode.

After the first push button, called "System settings", it opens the flap of the next image.

We have to check "Enable driver-level hardware overclocking." Note that the top combobox has options "Standard 2D", "Low power 2D and 3D Performance." Be sure to always leave in "Performance 3D."

    Part 3, Overclock with ATiTool

In this case is much easier, you just have to put pressure on "Find Max Core" and "Find Max Mem", and the program alone will raise the frequency and where there is fault, begin to download them again until it is stable. Will be the same procedure as with Riva Tuner, but save it a few times to open the 3DMark.

Last tip for nVidia to ATi; once you reach the maximum Overclock of memories and core, it is always advisable to lose some Mhz both for not requiring graphically and to ensure stability before a temperature increase (perhaps the core works well to 560Mhz and 85th but not necessarily do so in the same way in 95 sessions, for example).
