A fund that invests in one area of business is called a sector fund. Mainly sector funds have a minimum of 25% of their property invested in its field. These funds offer high approval potential, but may also pose higher risks to the investor.

There are three characteristics that are common among sector funds:

    1. Focused on stocks within a certain business or industry.
    2. Concentrated number of holdings.
    3. More volatile than the overall stock market.
