| XLRI GMP Students shine in USA, Australia & France
The team Chicago was led by the dean of GMP program Dr. Pranabesh Ray. The tour included discussions with Loyola University on the current financial turmoil. 3 GMP participants were also panelist for India day seminar held atthe university consisting of talks on topics such as MNCs operating in India, effect of US financial crisis & prevalent HR policies. Students visited Chicago Mercantile Exchange and did projects for US Cellular, La Salle investment management; Loyola financial services division & Northwestern memorial hospital. Second group of students in USA went to New Orleans where they were hosted by Freeman school of Business. Besides Company projects, students also participated in a strategy simulation game where they created and managed virtual companies that competed against each other for 8 simulated years. Students acting as top management of the company took decisions in various management areas of marketing, operations, finance and HR. The group not only completed the simulations successfully but also made it to the global top 10 rankings amongst world’s foremost B schools and Corporations. A group of 33 GMPians visited Melbourne, Australia and were received by RMIT University. Highlights of the program included a live trading session, Interaction with two time parliamentarian Ms Andrea MCcall about similarity of Australian and Indian democratic systems and a talk by AUSTRADE representative. The group of students did some path breaking work for Australian companies such as Manhattan Group, Lawrence Wackett centre for Aerospace, Peter MacCallum CancerCentre and Morris Cohen associates. Fourth group of students went to Lille, France and did marketing projects for the world’s best fashion and luxury groups, in addition to visiting Paris and Brussles to interact with local businesses. According to the dean “the international immersion programme not only helped executive GMP students understand the nuances of new conomic order but also showcase Indian talent to the world”.
