Classes won't help. You need to get books.... CCNA books to start. Then buy a router (Cisco 1700 series) off of ebay, 2 if you can afford it, and a couple wic-1enet cards. Read the books and play around on the routers. At the same time, install Windows Server 2003 and Linux on a couple machines and play around with them. Before playing around, figure out a task that you want to complete.... so you aren't just aimlessly doing stuff. You could probably take MCSE and CCNA classes as well.

What is a Computer Network Administrator?

Basically, your job is to build and maintain dependable lines of communication for your client. Computer network administration requires that you build lines, nodes, and switches both for local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs). Using cables and wireless technology, you basically create connections between various workstations so that employees can access and share information with one another securely.

Since you have chosen the path of Network Administrator vs. System Administrator, I suggest you take the approach on obtaining a Cisco Certification. You have a couple of options that would provide you with the necessary core networking skills in order to be competitive as you resume your job search once you finish your degree. In addition, I suggest you that you do in fact finish your BS in Computer Science for a number of reasons. Firstly, most high paying jobs are requiring atleast a BS and two, if the job doesn't that gives yourself an upper hand in the job game. Good luck and most importantly remember, there isn't anything you can't do if you set your mind to it.
