What are the duties of a Indian Foreign Service officer

I found IFS as a good option for career. I want to know that what are the duties of a IFS officer. It is mostly related to Foreign affairs. But does this include any kind of army service. Which includes spying and all stuff. IPS and IAS are mostly related to India. But IFS is a bit broader and also looks a bit more complicated. I am just trying to find the responsibility of a IFS officer, his ranks or grades. Is this a good career to go with. Or sticking with IPS is good enough.

If you love traveling then I think IFS would be a great choice for you. If you go with this you will be a officer who is on the top rank of CSE. This is conducted by UPSC. And for that the person will be sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration for a training. It has great scope but you hvae to be outside most of the time. And it also requires a lot of responsibilities. There is just a three months training in that which consist of various things. Like Horse riding, trekking on mount Everest, etc.

Here you need to run different type of languages which matters a lot. Once you are done with the training work you will be offered a language that you have to follow for communication. There will be another test which will be conducted once you are done with the training here. It takes around 3 years to compete the course. You will be transferred to an department like political, consular, cultural, etc. And there you will be working with other countries.There are nice benefits also. Like your parents will get medical faculties. You will be like a link between the embassy and consulate.
