    UP PCS exam Pattern and Syllabus

    I am doing mtech in computer science and after finishing it I would like to go for the Uttar Pradesh PCS exam. So, does anyone know about what are the Syllabus for this exam. Also if it is possible, then let me know about its Exam pattern as well. What are the possible option for selecting the optional subject for this examination? Thanks for any information.

    The UP PSC Exam pattern comprises 3 stages which is Preliminary Examination which is Objective Type, then there is Main Examination which consist of Written examination and lastly there is Viva Voce which is Personality Test. The first preliminary examination will have 2 objective type papers and it will have OMR type of answer sheets. You will be given 2 hours and maximum marks for compulsory paper is 150 and for optional paper it is 300.

    There will be alaos General Studies Paper I and Paper II and it will include all objective type question containing 150 questions. You will get only 2 hours time to complete this examination. You also get 3 hours time for other compulsory and optional papers and for each optional question paper a maximum of 200 marks has been allotted.

    Below is the syllabus for the preliminary examination of UP PCS:

    PAPER –General Studies-I
    1. (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    2. Current events of national and international importance.
    3. History of India and Indian National Movement.
    4. Indian and World geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
    5. Indian Polity and governance - Constitution, Political System. Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights issues etc.
    6. Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development Poverty Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives etc.
    7. General Issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change- that do not require subject specialization.
    8. General Science.


    Paper-II General Studies-II
    • (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    • Comprehension
    • Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
    • Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
    • Decision making and problem solving.
    • General mental ability
    • Elementary Mathematics upto Class X level- Arithmetic, Algebra. Geometry and Statistics.
    • General English upto class x level
    • General Hindi upto Class X level.
