How to transfer URLs easily on a kindle

I am just starting this thread to share the trick for transferring long URLs easily using your kindle. You don’t need to remember those long URL anymore, you just have to do a simple task of copy and paste smartly. You can follow the below simple steps for doing that.

First press "Menu" and go to "Enter URL" after that move the cursor behind "http". It should look like this you should now see something like "|http://forums.techarena.in/ebooks/4360.htm[/url]" Where "|" represents Kindle's cursor.

After that enter “http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url= “before "http:// Read This First! Rules and GuideLines for Ebooks Forums" so that it looks like "http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url= http://forums.techarena.in/ebooks/4360.htm" and Press "Enter".

Now wait for the page to load until you are redirected to tinyurl site saying that "http://tinyurl.com/####" is short version of your long URL. You can now remember this short url easily.

Re: How to transfer URLs easily on a kindle

That was a good trick anyways I wanted to share that one can send links to Instapaper from our Kindle following the below steps:

    • While being on a page enter "tinyurl.com/create.php?url=" at the beginning of the url using "Enter URL" option of Kindle and press "Enter". You will be now redirected to tinyurl site where you will find shortend version of your long URL.
    • If you want then you can assign each page a short name like date for eg 6thaug2012 or something else as per your desire. After that go to your email account of your Kindle where you might have set up long email address of your Instapaper account, now and send an email including the shortened name in the body that you might have assigned to the page to that address.
    • When you do so that page will be added to Instapaper and after adjusting the setting you will be able to email new pages every day.

If anyone face any issue with the above solution than they can feel free to ask.
