Showing Desktop wallpaper on Metro Screen in Windows 8.1 Preview

Though Microsoft has done several customization in 8.1 preview compared to Win 8, i want to do few more things here. Hence need a small help from you all. I have already done few customizations but got stuck on showing up my desktop background on the Metro screen. I mean the desktop wallpaper also remains the background of your Metro screen instead of the default blue or any other color background. I know this is possible because i have done this in Windows 8 using a registry script which i am not able to find out for the new 8.1 Preview. Hope anyone of you guys know doing the same in Windows 8.1.

Here is how you show up your desktop wallpaper on Metro screen as well:

• Go to Desktop and press Win+R on keyboard.
• Type "REGEDIT" in the RUN command and press Enter.
• Navigate to the following location in registry:
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Accent
• Now double click the key "MotionAccentId_v1.00" in the right pane and change its dword to "000000DB"
• Restart the system.

You are done !

That’s definitely the working solution Michael but there is yet easy way to do the same. I mean, if anything can be done from the windows option, then why to mess up with the registry, right?

Here is how to do without registry:

• Go to Desktop, right click the taskbar and select properties.
• In the opened window click Navigation Tab.
• Here under Start Screen section, check mark the box for “Show my desktop background on start”
• Click Apply > OK and that’s it.
