Set tiles in new full screen Start Menu on windows 8

I have installed window 8 consumer preview and I wanted to know if It is possible to arrange tiles pinned in full screen Start Menu the way I want? I have tried arranging them as per my desire but they are getting sided to each other in columns of 2. Any ideas if we can allow negative space between the tiles?

You can follow the below steps for Organizing Apps into Groups in Windows 8 "Start" Screen:

For creating New Group: Just drag your app where you want to create new group and wait until you see vertical bar display. Once you see vertical bar display drop your app there.

For adding an App to another Group: Just drag your app from one group and release it in arrangement of another group.

For changing Arrangement of Groups: Just Zoom out on the Start screen and Click on group and hold it, now drag it wherever you want and drop it for getting aligned with other groups in the grid.

I have followed the above solution for creating groups but in my case each group is having only 4 rows. Is it possible to add more?? I don’t have much idea about the same and need further assistance.

That depends on your screen resolution, Windows 8 will detect your current screen resolution and set number of rows for the pinned items based on it:
You can go through this to get better idea of rows you can set as per the screen resolution:
    Screen Resolution- Default- Max- Min
    800 x 600- 3- 3-1
    1024 x 768-4-4-1
    1152 x 864-5-5-1
    1280 x 720-4-4-1
    1280 x 960-5-6-1
    1280 x 1024-5-6-1
    1440 x 900-5-5-1
    1600 x 900-5-5-1
    1900 x 1080-5-6-1
    1920 x 1080 and above-6-6-1

If you set your screen resolution to 1280 x 1024 then you will get 5 rows by default, you can increase or decrease Number of Apps Rows on "Start" Screen by following the below steps:
    • First Press Windows+R, type “regedit” without the quotes and click on ok
    • Now navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid double click on Layout_MaximumRowCount in right pane and enter the no of rows you want and click on ok and close regedit.

The changes won’t take affect directly on your screen and you will have to Log off and log on one time for applying the changes to screen. You can simply increase and decrease number of rows by entering the appropriate value for it.
