In that case I will like to inform you that there are different widget toolkits for Linux , best ones are GTK+ and QT. You can try using GTK themes, they are quite versatile and were created for GNU Image Manipulation Program. Once you install GTK theme they will be stored in /usr/share/themes as gtkrc file. This file stores the parameters like element colors, size, position, etc. you can also use GNOME's Appearance module for creating themes. GNOME's Appearance module is in System > Preferences >Appearance > Customize. This tool will list the theme that is in use but allows you to create your own hybrid designs. If you don’t have idea about using gtkrc files directly then I think that GNOME's Appearance module will be the best option for you.

A better idea will be downloading and installing latest themes for linux. I have been doing the same, there are numbers of them over the web and I have tried out plenty of those. You really have vast choices, just go through the screen shot of the themes and get the ones you like. I keep changing the theme now and then.
