How to change the start up sound in win 7

In previous iterations of windows all sounds were customizable but in win7 I cannot find a way to replace the rather dull windows start up sound. There is a checkbox to disable or enable it - that is all. It's not in the sounds menu. It's got to be somewhere.. :p

Hey you can try out the solution that has been mentioned here, just check it out and see if it is helping.

the root directory path that one of the posters suggested looked promising, however, as you can see, the OP had no luck with that either and has given up. It's rather tantamount to a chef forcing you to add sugar to their pre-defined recipe when you'd prefer to add something more natural like honey.

I guess that's another in the long list of changes that microsoft has made to their "more user friendly" operating system seemingly with the express intention of pi**ing off as many people as possible.

I refer also to their deletion of api's required by their own older games to run which now will no longer run even in compatibility mode in vista and win7. Along with all of the other interface changes they've made in the interest of making it "easier" and instead making most configuration changes more of a pain in the a**
