Windows 7 unable to display the Desktop Gadgets

How to fix display gadgets on Windows 7. I have a new pc but it has some issue with customization. I am not able to get any gadget on the screen. I had downloaded many new one from web. I want to add one that can give me information of latest headline on the desktop itself. But it is not working fine. I want some options through which I can restore the old settings back.

The easiest way to fix this kind of issue is running system restore. This will revert the old settings back through which you can re-use the windows gadget. It is recommended that you must not add additional themes or gadgets from third party sites. They make your system unstable and cause this kind of problem. Always download stuff from the official site. They are more stable and they do not change your system settings also.

Ig ot this issue when I was trying to add a set of new themes. I had simply restored the old settings through system restore. But that worked only for few hours. I have to at-last format my pc and install everything back. I had accidentally installed virus in my pc which created more issue. I was lucky to know that soon. And I also go ahead with regular data backup.

You can restore that by modifying the some files of windows registry. When you keep on using new theming stuff on your system it happens that the settings are re-written a number of time and you keep on getting this problem. You just have to restore those settings back to make it work. That is the only way to fix problem. For that you have to restore Regsvr32 atl.dll, sbdrop.dll & wlsrvc.dll files. The location will be Regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Sidebar\.

I will recommend you to run system file checker. There are chances that manual settings might not work. But you can run system file checker to get rid of this problem. Just launch cmd and in that type sfc /scannow and hit enter. This will scan your pc and fix damage system files. It is one of the easiest way to restore damage files. It is a time consuming process.

1. open the regedit
2. navigate to this address:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones
3. Rt. click on Zones and export it to your desktop as a backup.
4. Delete Zones and re-start your computer.
5. You should be able now to display your gadgets.
