What happened to the Quick Launch toolbar in Windows 7?

I have been using Windows XP from a long time and recently upgraded to Windows 7. The very first thing that I have noticed about it is that I am unable to see Quick Launch toolbar. I don't know where it has went. I tried to find it here and there to make sure if it isn't hidden somewhere, but that's not the case. Can any one help me to get it back? I am not an expert and none of my friend knows about it too.

Quick Launch toolbar doesn't come by default with Windows 7. However you can create a new toolbar for this. All you need to do is enable Quick Launch in Windows 7. Just follow the below procedure to get Quick Launch toolbar:
    1. Right click on blank space in the taskbar, select Toolbars and then New Toolbar.
    2. In the new window that opens up, go to "%SystemDrive%\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\" and select QuickLaunch.
    3. You should be able to see the QuickLaunch toolbar in the taskbar now.

Ok that works and I have my Quick Launch toolbar. But now the problem is that it looks odd with text appearing on this new toolbar. How should I remove or disable it? Can you help me in this matter, please!

You can definitely disable the appearance of these texts from your new toolbar just like it was in Windows XP or Vista. For that, right click on the quick launch toolbar and unmark Show Text. I hope it works. You can then finally lock the taskbar so that the new toolbar stays in its current position.

Windows feature of Quick Launch toolbar has been removed in its latest version, Windows 7. However, instead, a new feature has been added in order to open up the programs quickly and it is known as Pin a program to the taskbar.
