Unable to change desktop background in windows 7

Hello,

After installing windows 7 RC (ver 7100, 32bits) by an upgrade from Vista Ultimate, I can not change my background. It kept the one I had with Vista before installation, a display picture. So how do I change desktop background in windows 7 ???

Re: Unable to change desktop background in windows 7

Try the following to solve the problem:

1. Control Panel / Appearance and Personalization / Change the background of the office.

2. Control Panel / Appearance and Personalization / Change Theme

3. Right-click on an image file: Set as desktop wallpaper

4. Not sure about windows 7, For vista which is to open the registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies / ActiveDesktop then put the key NoChangingWallpaper to "0"

What I did to solve the problem:

Quote:
1. Control Panel / Appearance and Personalization / Change the background of the office.
==> The window opens with the message "This feature has been disabled. Contact your system administrator for details.

Quote:
2. Control Panel / Appearance and Personalization / Change Theme
==> All parameters tested themes that I change, except the background. Moreover, only this component is not clickable.

Quote:
3. Right-click on an image file: Set as desktop wallpaper
==> Nothing happens.

4. After searching on some forums, including a solution for vista which is to open the registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies / ActiveDeskt
op then put the key NoChangingWallpaper to "0"
==> After a reboot, the solution is ineffective.

Just trying to check Local Policies: If the key functions mentioned above during your session because you have a strategy in place limiting the functionality. You can check if something special is positioned with GPEDIT.MSC or secpol.msc. You can try to change the same key as previously substituting HKEY_CURRENT_USER with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, this position it for all users.

Re: Unable to change desktop background in windows 7

To change desktop background in windows 7, first turn your desktop Web-Graphics, and make sure the file you are putting in the background is a bitmap file.

Way to Turn Web-Graphics:
* Right click on the desktop
* Properties
* Desktop tab
* Customize Desktop
* Web Tab
* Remove the tick from the pages, if any.
