Screensaver drop down list is greyed out

    Hi,

I am a win xp user. my problem is that I can't use my screen saver drop list, as it is "gray". when I enter the configuration screen savings on all screen savers waiting time is 30 and after that, the display the logon screen is on, but these options are greyed out. I looked through the display properties, but nothing comes out of me. Can anyone tell me how to access these options?

You can not change your screen saver, because the drop-down menu from which you normally choose a screen saver is gray, may be due to a group policy setting or registry editing. Start> Run> type regedit> OK> Edit> Find Next> DRAWING type and click Find Next. In the right column you will see (None) from the list. You can RightClick and then click Delete.

Screensaver drop down list is greyed out, to make it enable, Try this: search the Registry of the subkey "ScreenSaveActive. If this key exists and its DWORD value is set to "0" then change this value to "1" But before doing my suggestion that your backup your registry by right clicking and selecting "Export" option in the registry be deleted.

Have you looked in the registry under the key policies to see if there are policies that prevents you from changing screen saver related configuration? You still should be able to change the screen saver, just go to% "windir% \ system32" and select a screen saver. Or you can reset your profile, but this could be a bad choice if you're an advanced user.

As per microsoft, try the below steps :

    1. Start>Run>type Regedit >Click Ok or, press the Enter Key.
    2. Now navigate to the following locations:-
    3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop now find out SCRNSAVE.EXE entry in the right pane and delete it.
    4. HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop now find out SCRNSAVE.EXE entry in the right pane and delete it.
    5. Close the registry editor and restart the machine.
