Windows Sidebar

Windows Sidebar is a pane on the side of the Microsoft Windows Vista desktop where you can keep your gadgets organized and always available. Windows Sidebar makes great use of the space on widescreen monitors and also works smoothly on standard displays.

You can easily customize Windows Sidebar to suit your preferred location—always on top or resting below maximized windows. If you don't want to keep your gadgets docked on the Windows Sidebar, you can simply move them off, hide the sidebar, and place them anywhere on your desktop.

Windows Media Player Sidebar Gadget

This sidebar gadget has all the capabilities of WMP as embedded in a web page including the ability to play playlists, moves, audio, etc (.wpl, .wmv, .asx). Paths must be entered as URL's including files (i.e., file://c:/my.wpl). The gadget can play local videos, streaming videos and audio. The next version will alllow for storage and persistence of entered URL's and the ability to scroll through them.

Having a windows media player controling gadget is really nice, but there should be some option to resize this gadget. It feels really boring that you can't resize the gadget.

Its one of the Best Gadget i have ever used. Thanks for sharing, but yes obviously its too big for the sidebar. There should be resize feature.

As much as I hate Windows Media Player... I dislike ITunes even more it suckes soooo bad so many incorpated none features and limitings! Seriously hope you get money for saying that Eldon.

Well Itunes is the most preferable if you are MAC applications lover. For typical XP or Windows Users WMP is easy to use. I think you got money to say abuse to them.
