I cannot get the drop shadows option work for my desktop icons, it is visible in list but not doing anything after selecting. I checked Lock Web Items On Desktop option under arrange by icons which is not enabled. Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to fix it?Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Press the Windows Key which will open start menu. Search sysdm.cpl from windows search. It will show you system property window. Click the Advance tab and click the Performance Settings button. In the new Window, select Custom, scroll down the section and uncheck the “Use drop shadows for icon labels” option. Click OK twice to close the windows.

Re: Drop Shadows for desktop icons not working

In Windows Vista, the desktop icons can change and have a drop shadow behind the icon text by enabling by click on my start and then go to computer option. Right click on computer select properties > system properties window will open > select advance button > visual effect > click on custom icon > enable drop shadow for icon labels on desktop.

Check to make sure that your colors are set to 32-bit. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Performance. Click to clear the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop check box, click Apply, and then click OK two times.Close Control Panel.
