Wallpaper is covered by a black background

My colleague has a problem which I can not entirely resolve - and therefore I ask here for help.

The problem is that my colleague has a black background instead of the image he put on the wallpaper. The problem does not appear on another user account - so I suspect a local process or a program to be the culprit.

It is tricky, however, that if I'm inside the Desktop Background and choose "wide color as background" so I can change the background color. But if I choose a picture and click Apply and / or ok then change it in the light.

    Any suggestions?

The machine is an Acer Aspire 5100 with Windows Vista SP1

I am experiencing the same problem I found out what it covers the explorer.exe quit, I can sometimes get it to be, it should just say that the computer is a xp updated. Hope some can find out where the problem originated.

    Hello again.

We found the solution to the problem - it was "Increased availability" in the control panel which played tricks. There was chosen a color scheme with high contrast - which decoupled wallpapers.

It was funny that it was a 3rd colleague who found the answer - after having asked the right questions to google. Neither my colleague or I had made the right first.
