    Here Follow this Step

    • open the image, you want to work on

    • adding alpha channel (transparent layer) by CLICKING menu > LAYER > TRANSPARENCY > ADD ALPHA CHANNEL
    • select the fuzzy selector - and with it, click & select the area you want to remove
    • click & select the area you want to remove
    • now let's clear the area, by CLICKING menu EDIT > CLEAR (CTRL + K)
    • now your image has transparent background and is possible to save in a transparent capable format, like GIF or PNG

    1) Open an image (no matter the what) that is between 100x100 and 800x800 to be not that its not too small or too big:

    2) Go to Layer> Mask> Add Layer Mask

    3) A small window opens choose white (opacity)

    4) Tap the keys on your screen ctrl + L at the same time, accessible through

the File menu in the main gimp> dialogues> create a new window with tabs>

    layers channels and paths

    5) Take the fill tool and choose a gray color or too dark or too light

    6) Click on the white background on the small window layer and fill the image with the gray save the result

Re: How To Make Image Transparent in GIMP?

Hello , follow my Step to Do that

    1. Open your image.
    2. Select the area you want to make transparent.
      • Select the appropriate selection tool from the Tool window or the Tools - Selection Tools menu on the Layer window. I usually use the magic wand/fuzzy select (Select contiguous region) tool or the Select regions by color tool.
      • Click in the region you want selected. Use shift-click to add more regions/colors.
    3. Tip: It's easier if you zoom in (View - Zoom menu) to see finer details of exactly what you're selecting.
    4. In the Layer window (the one showing your image), select Layer - Transparency - Add Alpha Channel. If this is blanked out then it's already done. This makes sure your image can store transparency data.
    5. Select Edit - Clear. This makes the selection transparent.
    6. Save the file.

Note: If you save it as a PNG file, be sure to select the 'Save colour values from transparent pixels' option in the Save as PNG dialog box.

Re: How To Make Image Transparent in GIMP?

To make an image transparent just...

Add a white layer (you can change the color of this layer to make image blend).
    Than adjust the layers opacity.
Save the image with the layer.

You can also just adjust the brightness of the original image (i.e. make it brighter, if a white background is desired of course).

    Hope this helps.
