A new boot screen for Vista

When you start Windows Vista, the startup screen (also the boot screen) has not changed since Windows XP. We will see how by simply replacing an image from the theme Aurora.

The Vista bootscreen is similar to that found on Windows XP: a simple black screen with a small animated progress bar at the bottom.

If you want a little change at this level, it is very easy to replace the splash screen without having to install any software.

Here's how:
  • Go to Start and type msconfig in the search field and then confirm.
  • In the System Configuration Utility, select Start and then select the Do not start the graphical user interface.
  • Then click the OK button. You will be asked to restart your computer.Accept.

As with each use of the msconfig utilisatire, the tool is in Diagnostic or Selective to ensure that changes via msconfig is not the cause of instability or problems. We must therefore confirm our amendment. A tooltip indicating that some startup programs are blocked appears in the notification area (near the clock).
  • Click on the icon indicated by the infobule in the notification area and select Run blocked program and then System Configuration Utility as shown below:

    The following confirmation window appears:
  • Simply check the box Do not show this message or launch the System Configuration tool when Windows starts and click OK.

A new start screen corresponding to the theme Aurora is now in place. Although the latter is a bit dark and it is not animated, it still brings a little change in the boot of Vista

Re: A new boot screen for Vista

I prefer using softwares to change the boot screen of my WIndows Vista. It prove to be less risky and quicker then the method mentioned abouve. Everything is just one click away form changing the Boot screen or the login screen in Windows if we use any third party software. But still, i liked your post as it gave me extra information on how we can manually change the Boot screen of Windows Vista system without using software or other applications.

Re: A new boot screen for Vista

It is just an part of customizing Windows. Many geeks like to have their own pictures on the boot screen. It is really fun to do that. The wallpapers is the most basic thing that everyone can do by right clicking. But boot screen needs special tools. There are also many tools which helps you to customize Windows vista entirely. This lets you to set those preferences which you want to see on your system.
