When you first install Windows XP the start menu may look strange,if you are used to Windows 95/98/ME.But you can change this back to the "classic view" very easily.
Follow the guidelines below:
- First right-click on the START button, then click on Properties from the menu that appears.
- Click on the Start Menu tab.
- Now simply select the Classic Start Menu option as shown on the left and then click OK.
- Now the start menu will look more familiar to those users of previous versions of windows.
You can easily change the style to the Windows Classic Start menu by following these steps:
- 1. Right–click the Start button, and then click Properties.
- 2. Click Classic Start menu.
- 3. Click the Customize button to select items to display on the Start menu.
By default, selecting the Classic Start menu also adds the My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places, and Internet Explorer icons to your desktop.
You can change the XP Style Start Menu to Classic Style very easily.
Windows XP offers two types of Start Menu style.
One, the Classic Style which you see in Windows 95/98/ME systems and the New XP Start Menu which is very attractive. However, many people still stick on to the Classic Style Start Menu.
Here is the way to switch between both modes.
1. Right-click an empty area of the Taskbar and choose Properties
2. Click the tab named Start Menu at the top
3. You'll be presented with two options namely Start Menu and Classic Start Menu
- Start Menu is the new XP Style
- Classic Start Menu is the Windows 9x Style
4. Choose any of the options and click OK
