Maximize a window with custom margins?

    Hi,
Is there any way to custom set the margins of window when we clicks on maximize button? Any registry edit? any custom software? I mean the maximize window should,'t take the whole desktop screen it should be fixed at some margin i set. I'm using windows vista here. Thanks for any reply

I don't think so there is anyway to do is. Better is don't click on maximize and custom set size of your window . See this thread may be useful for you :

Try DesktopCoral is an unusual program designed to "reserve" some portion of your desktop which is shielded from maximized applications..

Essentially, it acts like an invisible resizeable docking bar, which can be docked to any side of your desktop. This invisible dock acts as a barrier to maximized applications and essentially shields this area of your desktop from other applications.

Within this shielded area you might put certain application windows that you want to be always visible, or you might put one of the many desktop tools like a calendar or system information component.

    Download Desktop Coral

You'd better not click the max button. A tool, Wsizer can enlarge a window to a custom size by hotkey. Maybe you want to have a try.

Unfortunately, it is not a freeware. You can find it at:
