How do i get rid of balloon tips

Hello everyone,

Can any body tell me how can i get rid of these balloon tips? It keeps on poping up on the screen, which is ridiculous. Every time i have to close it down. Is there any way by which i can close it forever? Does any one have any idea how can i do so? Would be grateful to you, if anyone help me out to resolve this issue.

This will help you to get rid out of those balloon tips.

1. In the left hand pane navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced

2. Right click on the white region of Regedit's right hand pane, click New, and then click DWORD Value

3. Enter EnableBalloonTips for the name of the new DWORD Value and press Enter. The new value should now appear in Regedit's right-hand column.

4. Right click the new value and choose Modify.

5. Click Decimal and set the Value Data field to 0, then click OK.

By changing putting the value to 0 we are telling it not to put the balloon tips up.

There are two ways in which you can accomplish the same thing.

Method 1: Registry Edit Method

• Click Start > Run
  
• Type regedit > OK.
  
• Find the following key…HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
  
• Edit a REG_DWord value for EnableBalloonTips and set its value to 0.

Method 2: Group Policy Editor Method

• Click Start > Run
  
• Type GPEDIT.MSC > Press enter.
  
• Go to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Start Menu & Taskbar
  
• Double-click on Remove Balloon Tips on Start Menu Items and choose Enabled.
  
• Click OK.

Although this may not look like to be contributing a lot towards making Windows faster, but this is a fact that if you want to speed up Windows, then such small tweaks contribute their bits.

There's a fairly easy way to do it, but you do have to touch your Registry. So if you're not comfortable dealing with the guts of your Windows operating system, you might want to skip this one. Note that this affects only Balloon Tips, not the more ubiquitous tool tips that appear in most Windows XP–compatible applications. Here's what you do:

• Select Run from the Start button.
  
• Type in regedit in the Open: field.
  
• Hit Enter or click OK. This opens the Registry Editor.
  
• Select the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then follow the folder path \software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\advanced\.
  
• From the Registry Edit menu, select Edit/New/DWORD Value. A new value will appear in the right-hand pane.
• Type EnableBalloonTips and hit Enter.
  
• Close the Registry Editor.
• Log off from Windows XP and then log on again to enable the change.
