With the new Taskbar in Windows Seven, it is now possible to pin applications or files and folders.

Pin an application in the taskbar:
  • WordPad, for example, is an application that is used very often.

  • Instead, click Start, All Programs, and click the shortcut for the application, or click on a desktop shortcut, you can have a direct icon of the application still available in the taskbar.

  • Drag the application icon in the taskbar, the "Pin in the taskbar" (Pin to Taskbar) appears

  • The application WordPad is now in the taskbar.

  • You can also simply right-click the shortcut on the Start menu, select pin in the taskbar (Pin to Taskbar).



Highlight a folder:
  • Open Explorer and drag the folder in the taskbar.

  • The message "Pin in the Explorer" (Pin to Windows Explorer) is


  • But the file does not appear directly in the taskbar, for against, a right-click on the icon of the Explorer, the file will appear at the top of the list pins (Pinned)



Highlight a file:


  • A file can be pinned directly into the taskbar, but it can be pinned in the application or in the Start Menu:


    • WordPad for a file, for example, that we open very often:
      • Drag the icon for the file in the taskbar, the "Pin in WordPad" appears. This file is now available on top of the list in pins (Pinned) by right clicking on the icon WordPad you just put in the taskbar.
