Workgroup Password Problems in Vista

Hi, I am trying to connect workgroup computer but i was unable to do so, my workgroup password is not being accepted by Vista. It seems like Vista wants to put the name of the computer with a backslash in front of the username i actually type in, and therefore i can’t connect. Please help in sorting out from this problem.

Please try the following on your Vista computer:

• Click Start
  
  
• Click Control Panel
  
  
• Click System and Maintenance
  
  
• Click Administrative Tools
  
  
• Double-Click Local Security Policy
  
  
• In the left pane, click the triangle next to Local Policy
  
  
• In the left pane, click Security Options
  
  
• In the right pane near the bottom, double-click “Network security: LAN
  manager authentication level”
  
  
• Click the drop-down box, and click “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”
  
  
• Click OK
  
  
• Restart the computer

Hope you will be able connect workgroup computer.

Try this if you are using Vista Home Basic and Home Premium editions:-

1. Open the Start Menu.

2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.

3. Click Continue for UAC prompt.

4. In regedit, go to:-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

5. In the right pane, right click LmCompatibilityLevel and click Modify. If it doesn't already exist, create a DWORD value named LmCompatibilityLevel

6. Set the value to 1

7. Reboot.
