    angry Opening Windows IE Maximized?

    Hi,

New here, first question. I have a Dell XPS M1730 laptop. Using shortcuts on my desktop opens windows minimized, with the exception of IE, which has the option to open maximized. Other shortcuts do not have the option.

After spending hours with Dell techies, examining my system remotely, all they could do was to install IE New Window Maximizer.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 and all the shortcuts open perfectly. No one at Dell could fix the problem without using the utility. While that works, it is really not what I consider a viable option, either aesthetically, or from a user perspective.

I have tried "training" each of the windows by stretching and exiting, but that fix did not work either.

Anyone have a suggestion? I hate this.

The M1730 is brand new, with an XP Pro downgrade installed. Using IE 7.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

this is easy...click on the folder you want to affect on your desktop.
Instead of selecting open, select properties.
a new window will open...internet explorer properties...look down to the drop down menu titled Run: you can select normal window, maximised, or minimised. Select one. click apply, click ok. the folder's properties window should close. Open the folder and see if it starts normally, minimised or maximised. It should. I run windows enterprise 64 bit..but I remember doing the same with xp and win 98. 2000 I don't know about.

ps.. you can also change icons..to ones you create yourself..from photos or drawings on your computer. It beats downloading icons or smilies which can be chock full of spyware. Make your own.
Ps. my either post neglected to mention..you can change whether ANY folder opens minimised or normal or maximised..not just internet explorer.
