| How can I remove the colour from desktop icons
I am running Win XP Pro on my computer. My desktop icons are having some background colour behind each icon's name which I don't want. I checked in the properties, but can't find how to make the changes. How can I remove the colour? |

Go to Display Properties -> Appearance Tab -> Effects Button -> "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" Set to Clear Type -> OK. |

If that didn't work then Go to Display Properties -> Desktop Tab -> Customize desktop -> Webs Tab -> Un check if anything is selected. |

I was also facing the same problem. After googling a lot got the result. It generally happens when the value of ForceActiveDesktopOn is set to 1(true) Here is the solution:
