I've actually used this exact tutorial to create a project, myself. It turned out really well, and I'm planning to do the same effect, but with different patterns such as flowers, rocks, marbles...etc.

That's a great effect - I only wish they'd spread the tutorial over a number of pages. It takes forever to load with 30+ large images!
